In one of the Facebook posts, it says the B3 coaches get together for a planning session. The dad is one of them. So the coach had a signing day for his own kid?

I cannot believe all of the trash talk and hateration regarding this bookface post for the future phenom Young Lex
It will be one of the great stories in sports when Young Lex gets signed to a D1 scholarship.

Hey, he has both parents and 2 sets of grandparents willing to show up for something he does.
80% of kids cannot say that.

Embarrassed for them having a party over this, dad must be one of the coaches.
Ironically 7u (the first season where travel begins) may be the most fun season of travelball. It’s also the only season where better fielders play over better hitters. In 6u very few outs are recorded with throws to first.

IF they can afford travelball, they can afford $1300/month for Ozympic.

not quite.
i dont get the signing ceremonies...i think all that shite is weird AF. Its always the local shitty teams too.
I dont get the whole high school signing ceremony either that a bunch of the schools do for 8th graders. I just find it weird and cringe AF

I’m so glad my son is old enough for just high school ball only now. Travel ball was necessary when he was in middle school due to limited school games and the local park ball competition. Thank God we are out of that now.
yalls coaches dont make yall play summer travel? Most schools do, at least the bigger and better schools, if nothing else with the school team.

This reminds me of the beauty pageant scam. Parents sign up a daughter to a beauty pageant program. The daughter wins some, always a trophy or some award at every event. But, it is all about the money. Mom shovels out a ton of money.

I miss the days when children's sports wasn't all about mom and dad.
Sign up for local rec league. Play baseball. Team sponsored by local business.
Go to the local ball park once or twice a week for a game.
These days, it's start at the age of three. Sign up for travel ball. Shell out thousands of dollars. Travel to multi-day tournaments in halfway across the country, some of which take place during the work week. Insert volleyball or Ace cheerleading instead of baseball.
At least marching band hasn't yet been infected by this cancer.

95% of it still is, its only the 5% you see being blasted on social media that isnt.
the only people going half way across the country to play are those that choose to as a team or they are the elite of the elite. such a dumbass narrative, something you just made up

they still have that, its just that you are so far behind if thats all you do, by 12, in most cases you have about a 1% chance of continuing to play. Wont even make the middle school team if they even have that, much less HS team unless its a really small school
but dont get it twisted, in 95% of cases, its the kids driving the travel movement. Parents dont just wake up and say let me spend all kinds of money and give up lots of weekends. Im sure there is about 5% of cases like that in the OP but the other 95% are just trying to allow their kid to play more baseball because that is what he wants and as they get older, allow them to chase their dreams if that is truely what they want.

I wish I would have started a sliding mitt and travel ball necklace business about 10 years ago.

I want to make fun of this because it is truly ridiculous. However I feel so bad for this kid, and family. Travel ball seems to have such misguided priorities, I worry about what happens to the kid when his playing days are over(Most likely years before they want it to be) and they have to then deal with their families world no longer revolving around them and the fallout of not being “special” in they way they were expected to be.

That is precisely the issue.
It essentially feeds in on itself. Come up with concept, utilize FOMO to coax parents to sign their kids up. Kids abandon rec league. Travel ball is now the only way to prepare for JH, HS, and beyond. More and more money is pumped into travel ball.

Kids know don't know any other way when they've been force fed travel ball from the age of 3.
We've ruined sports for kids.

you dont have to do it. if you think the rec ball approach is better, dont participate but also do not be a fricking Karen if your kid doesnt make the HS team either

nobody does travel ball at 3 and nobody travels half way across the country except the best of the best and because they want to. 99% of teams in louisiana travel less than an hour except maybe once or twice a year and they play roughly 10 tournaments march - june.
So stop just making shite up
travel doesnt even start until 7 in LA and most dont start until 8
but listen if you think your way is better, go for it
some kids actually like playing sports and want to play more than 12 games a year, I know foreign concept to you
nobody has ruined youth sports, baseball participation is at all time high. Soccer is all time high. those along with AAU basketball are the main travel sports
if you think that its ruined sports dont participate but stop bitching because others choose to. nobody is being forced.
do what's right for your family. I know plenty that dont participate, I know some who's kid hated it, some who the family decided it wasnt right for them as a family and then some that their kids absolutely love everything about it and parents hate it and then some where the whole family loves it.

Thats the issue. If you want to play baseball in high school now, it has to be your life up to high school. Thats rediculous. Everybody taking the shite too seriously has ruined it.
