20+ years ago I ripped on him and his fans because I was a music snob and considered him over-produced and fake.

I was wrong. I came to love his music and who he was as a man.

I will miss him.

Takes balls to admit being wrong.
I used to kinda be embarrassed of being a fan. I then realized frick the haters.

Carrie with a very nice tribute to her fellow Okie:

quote:

"Saddle up the horses, Jesus, ‘cause a true blue COWBOY just made his ride up to heaven!!!" Introduce him to all the Okies and sign that boy up for the choir!"

"We’re gonna miss you, Toby, but my heart has no doubt that you are standing in the presence of our King right now!!" See you again someday, friend."

That's right. I had forgotten about that. Good factoid.

Saw him at the Washington Parish Fair many years ago when he was on his way up, and have been a fan ever since. Great patriot, great artist. He will be missed.

A Country Icon!
So many great hits from the late 90’s through the 00’s.
A part of my childhood is now gone.

So in 2005, Toby Keith ruined the 2024 Super Bowl! How do I like him now?

Hate seeing anyone go through what he had to. Someone who was unapologetic and refused to be bullied. F*ck big pharm!

Most played country song in the 90's.

quote:

“Should've Been a Cowboy” was released by Toby Keith in his eponymous debut album (1993). It was the most-played song on country radio during that decade and was #1 on two charts: Billboard Hot Country Songs and Canadian RPM Country Tracks.

I played the sh*t out of it in high school. Got a job on a farm because of it. Worked cattle for 6 years through college.

Lots of saddness here in OKC... I live by Moore OK..

Before he got famous he played with every Musician in this town at a cheap Country and Western Bar here called Chastains, which was loced in a hotel by the interstate.

Pics with him all over my fb and I know all these musicians. But they say he was very arrogent... He has a small bar in Norman called Hollywood Corners..

My thumb is broke. Hard to type..
