Quit being a fig

For one thing, the downvote button is too close to the upvote button

Secondly, they could be downvoting the news. Quit being a whiny whore. The upvote / downvote feature on this site is absolutely pointless and losers like you care too much about it

I'm 62 this month. Huh. Never was a fan (couldn't name a song til I started reading this thread) as I'm an old school honky tonk outlaw fan.

But ya'll have some nice things to say about the man. I'll blast some of his tunes in the shop tonight. RIP.

Aside from all of his other hits, how can anyone who lived through 9/11 not know Toby Keith? He wrote the anthem to a war that lasted twenty years.

I have been a fan since the first album. I am not even a big country listener but I always loved his style Still do. His merica stuff just made it easier.

I own a fishing tackle business and a lot of people dont know that so did Toby. Honestly they are a competitor of ours. But I honestly respect that dude and was happy when he bought the company. He did a lot for his community and people like that will not be easy to replace

RIP.
I remember standing in front of Serio’s before the January 2004 national championship game when a little kid came running down St Charles Avenue from the Intercontinental. Then a man came running a few yards behind him. It was Toby Keith trying to catch his son. Everyone including Toby got a big laugh out of it. He was at the game because he was a big Oklahoma fan.

I do too. But we always knew that there was a certain night to avoid going to that fair...

Toby Keith

I'm not sure if this has been shared in the 7-page thread, as I have not read all 7 pages.

However, I thought this was a cool story, and if it has been shared, it bears repeating.

Toby Keith Sings Duet With Former POW

quote:

May 9, 2003

quote:

Former prisoner of war Pfc. Patrick Miller got a huge surprise at a parade and rally in his honor Saturday _ courtesy of country star Toby Keith.

Miller, who enjoyed irritating his Iraqi captors by singing Keith's "Courtesy of the Red White & Blue," was reluctantly persuaded to strike up the tune with three school buddies during the homecoming in his childhood hometown.

They were cut off by Bobby Massey, pastor of Valley Center Assembly of God, who told them, "I think it would be better if we got someone who knows how to sing it."

quote:

Then Miller watched incredulously as Keith emerged from the crowd and strode up to the platform to sing the popular song. The crowd roared whenever Keith stepped back and let Miller sing a few choice lines in the song. Miller blinked back tears.

Keith said it was an easy decision to make the appearance in the town north of Wichita. "After finding out he was singing the 'Red White and Blue' to the Iraqis _ how can you say no?" he said.

Afterward, Keith presented Miller with the guitar he had played.

Keith quickly left after playing the song, telling reporters later he did not want to take the spotlight away from Miller. He later joined the soldier for a private lunch.

Full Story - RIP Toby Keith, you were a great one!

This hurts a lot more than I thought it would. Toby Keith is one of the good ones. Someone who walked the walk and talked the talk. I will never forget blasting “How Do You Like Me Now?” over and over again as a kid.

RIP Toby. May we meet in heaven one day.

Damn, cancer sucks! What a good dude. Great music, great Patriot and will forever be remembered as the man that helped put the Dixie Chicks outta business.

It is a shame he went out the way he did not only for himself, but his family.

He said it like Cancer is there good and bad days.

Unfortunately, he lost his battle with cancer.

Hats off to a man that accomplished a lot in his life.

Oklahoma Flags at Half Staff..

Lots of folks went to school with him...

and that other football website has a thread about him, but it down went down the "everythings racist" rabbit hole.

Before he got famous.

Great songwriter and singer.

I think he did some of his best work post diagnosis. I truly believe he left us his best song with "Don't Let the Old Man in".

I love his 90's stuff, but that song is outstanding. He knew he was on borrowed time when he wrote it. Held his talent for songwriting until the end.

Thanks for the memories Toby

Don't Let the Old Man in.
