Those of you who married a rich girl, how do these conversations go with her old man? Does he just quietly put money in hers, yours, or ya'lls checking account or do do you have to go ask her parents for money for big purchases? Or is there a trust set up that direct deposits when the trustee wants?

Obviously you're smart for making money the old fashion way. Congrats!

What you earn together you get half if y’all separate. Whatever you married into is all of hers.

You’ll get a nice 6 figure check on the wedding day if her parents are cool.

Every time you tell her she can't afford something, Daddy pays for it. Every time Daddy pays for something, he reminds her she should have married Thurston. Every time she is with her friends, they talk about how perfect she and Thurston would have been.

Keep PIIHB. That's all you got. For now.

Funny, well not to me, thing is that her folks have more than my wife and I, plus we're putting 2 kids through college.
Her dad plays this pity role and my wife will pay for his meals, etc.

College buddy of mine did. Her father was deceased but her mother bought them a house in Bocage right across the street, and bailed out his business when it hit the skids. Predictably, the mother ran shite in that family. I don't think she was a bitch about it, but he deferred to her on a lot of things.

In my case you don't get shite

ETA: But she expects you to buy her a lot of shite...

The paradox...

I did but nothing was done out of the ordinary nor was anything expected. We never asked for anything but always knew we could. The wedding was crazy huge. Fwiw, my family was the same way but they were more prone to give to the grandchildren and great grandchildren, which we thought was fabulous.

You pay for your own shite and let her old man cover her expenses. When it’s time to buy a house or go on vacation, have her bring it up to her mom, who then tells dad who then cuts the check.

Pre-numptual agreement long as your leg so you dont get shite, and you will still have to work and have that leverage on you constantly. Not worth it imo.

From my experience:
You get some scraps like used furniture when a relative renovates their house or they own a rental property which they lease for y'all to live in (you still pay rent).
She has expensive tastes the two of you cannot afford.
She routinely blows the budget on decorating the house to keep up appearances.
She resents you for not being able to provide the life style she was accustomed to.
When she finally gets sick of being "poor", rather than her just go out and get a higher paying job, she will kick you out of the house and go back on her family's pay roll. You have no choice because it's their house.

You leave impoverished and are forced to move back in with your parents and still work 2 jobs to make ends meet.
