Although never married, I've been in long-term relationships on both sides of this.
My most recent experience was with a gf who despised that I didn't have to work in college, and always had time to do things. I paid for everything (even her school, books, and sometimes rent), but she still hated it. She'd bring it up at least once a week.
When I was on the other side, I dated a girl who had no concept of money at all. I don't think she ever thought about it. Her radio stopped working in her car one day, she called her mom (the one with money), and the mom just said to go buy a new car. Went that day, and came home with an ML500. After her freshman year, she wanted a house off of campus, so her parents came down and bought she and her friends a house in Southdowns. Charged one friend $350/mo, and another loved there for free.
In the second situation, I paid for most things we did together, but she paid for the larger stuff. It wasn't a big deal after a while

This is why marrying across, not up or down, in terms of $ is the best option

He just hired me on at his huge investment firm, made me partner, then pinned a bunch of fraud on me. Luckily I became friends with a black guy who washed my car and he not only taught me how to survive in jail, but opened my eyes to my ex-father in laws tricks.
One of the funniest posts I’ve read on here in awhile
