On my last trip, I saw a small poofy service dog that was jumping on everyone and whining the whole time I was by it. I'm guessing they just bought the vest off of Amazon

why is it a problem?

People not emotionally stable enough to fly on a plane without a pet, do not need to be on planes to begin with.

I know several youngish white females that went online and filled out an application to have their dog designated as a service/emotional support dog. And now bring their dogs everywhere with them, including work. But they don’t actually need them and I’m curious if you have to provide any documentation to verify your need or if you can literally just fill out an application online and get approved so you can bring your dog food with you everywhere.

Agreed! Leave your damn dog at home or put it in a kennel. There were 3 ugly arse dogs on our flight a few weeks ago out of MSY. One was a freaking greyhound.

I've told this story here before but my favorite was this crazy patient of mine that insisted on bringing her "service dog" into the operating room with her. The dog had obviously not been bathed recently and was wearing a nasty well-worn "Service Dog" vest. While I was talking to her the dog was literally whining and pawing at my legs the entire time. To top it off when I told her she was going to be admitted overnight she insisted her dog could spend the night in her car, in the middle of winter, during one of the polar vortexes. Crazy doesn't begin to describe it.

It's really interesting where this will go. I was checking into a hotel a few weeks ago and they had a big "service dogs only" sign. I asked the guy checking me in if they had issues with the emotional support animal craze, and people trying advantage, and he said it's a nightmare. They are basically handcuffed: can't pry, can't push back, can't say no.....if they do the lawyers are lined up with their discrimination against the emotionally sensitive lawsuits.

Sort of represents where we are as a society: how far are we willing to let the vocal minority inconvenience everyone else and abuse the rules/laws that are intended to protect people that actually need them, before we say enough.

The other day I was in a local restaurant and this lady brings in a long haired enormous dog with a service vest "Do not pet" thing on. All I could think is I am now eating this walking mop's hair in my food.

I believe for it to be legit you have to have a prescription for said service/emotional support animal.

sounds like a good place to strike up a convo with a well off looking white girl.

then again, you're an Aggie. Why would you ever talk to a strange girl?
