My son and I were at some restaurant/bar in North Georgia and they had Atmosphere “Nostalgia TV” on.

It was hilarious trying to explain to my 10 year what we were watching, think I could’ve watched it all day:
LINK
I hope so. Hotel prices are through the roof too.
Agreed. We got to log in for our window today. Here is an idea on options.

You could buy a “Team Group” package. You pick the team, but you don’t know where (or who!!) they are playing, and you have to buy all 3 games.

Category 1 was over $1000 per ticket for Portugal. Over $900 for England. $270 (category 3) - $750 (category 1) for Ecuador. Argentina is already sold out.

For single game tickets:
All final tickets are gone. All semis gone. Quarters gone.

I couldn’t find a single category 4 or category 3 ticket for the “single game” option in any venue for any match.

Category 2 ~$330-370 for group stage, Category 1 ~$450 for group stage. This could work out depending on the draw, or you could see two teams you care zero about.

I really hope the resellers lose their arse and the stadiums are empty.

FIFA once again showing how awful they are.
If you are still around, what exactly did this look like?

I don’t want to get too excited, but my wife’s entry got the email! Email title: “ You are in: Visa Presale Draw Application Result – FIFA World Cup 26™”

The reason I’m hesitant is the links in the email do nothing to indicate she was selected: “Click here to log in to your FIFA ticketing account and view your assigned date and time slot. To proceed with your purchase (subject to availability), please click here.”

The first “click here” takes you to the place where it has the entry info, but says nothing about being selected or a time slot.

The second one takes you to a purchase page where all I see is Argentina “Team Specific Tickets”, which is not the team we selected and is already sold out.

So confused….thought it was phishing, but seems legit. Thought the website was delayed, but been multiple hours since we got the email.

Guess we will just be checking as much as we can over the next few days. Curious what we be available for our “window” 4-5 days after the windows started.
Wife got a “right to buy” email and got excited.

Basically an extra fee for the right to buy a ticket.

I suspect the bots/resellers will be in full force and anyone not lucky enough to win the lottery will be relegated to upper deck non-marquee games or dropping $1,000’s per ticket.

I was excited to take my 10 year old, and maybe even the family, to attend my first World Cup. But we could easily be looking at $10,000+ for non-nosebleed tickets, hotel, etc. for a single game to a team we want to watch. We did an 9 day trip to England, including a “vip package” for United vs. Arsenal for slightly more than that. Hard to justify that while being somewhat fiscally responsible.

Hope I’m wrong, but seems common fan definitely being priced out :(
Nothing here yet. I logged in and it said you will get an email whether you are selected or not.

~4.5 million entries. Fingers crossed!
Wasn’t bad this morning, wife and I entered with no hiccups.
They don’t make money by denying people to take the test. You would be shocked what they take as “experience”, submit what you have and see if they accept. No harm in trying.
Great point here.

I often tell my oldest “this is my first time being a dad, I’m still figuring it out too.”

I try to apologize if I am overly harsh, and come back to the reason I was harsh or frustrated, hopefully so he understands why.
Requiem for a Dream, and to a lesser extent, Trainspotting.

DARE has nothing on those two.

20% pissed away with zero to show for it but useless studies and corrupt politicians.

Can’t wait to see how they piss away the rest over the next few years!

Pretty impressive how absolutely atrocious Louisiana’s leaders continue to be.
Everything is going “as a service” direction and is really just a form of financing/leasing something that you’ll never own.

I really find it interesting that so much of the green agenda is “reduce, reuse”, but any appliance, car, etc. is completely ignored.

Instead of repairing, we just toss these massive, expensive machines in the land fill and the industrial machine just keeps chugging along.
Thought this might be a better place to ask than the OT. Didn’t see a recent topic on this (last one I found was March 2024), but was hoping to get some insight in converting my 2012 Club Car Precedent to lithium.

It currently has 6x 8v lead acid that will likely need to be replaced soon. Don’t need crazy range, we live in a “golf cart neighborhood “, so mostly for cruising and hauling kids/stuff to neighborhood pool/lake.

Any recommended brands? Any to avoid?

Any “lessons learned” or things to be aware of for a DIY’r?

Any Prime Deals I may be able to take advantage of?

Which are hardest for fans of "little brother" to stomach?

If this the criteria, how can it be any except Texas? I didn’t believe it until I lived in Houston, but Texas fans are insufferable (and Aggies beyond delusional), no one can “stomach” them. Everyone is being exposed to it now on these boards.

Any other criteria I think makes Texas/A&M the winner too. Auburn has had NC’s and more competitive teams in various sports, MSU won basketball championships not that long ago. OU/OSU is so lop sided I just don’t think it’s the same as some of the others on the list.

Aggies got their coach sniped the day after their most successful season in a long time (this cemented the big bro/little bro relationship imho). The melt when Texas joined the sec. There just isn’t one that compares .
I got an Ice Mule a few years ago for Christmas and it’s an absolute game changer for the beach or lake. Having two hands free to assist with kids and crap is really helpful.

Before that, had this for I don’t even know how long and still use regularly:
I will admit I am 100% ignorant on the home building business, but I just cannot get my head around this:

quote:

The banks’ basis isn’t limited to build costs and acceptable operating costs. Builders are baking profit margin into the itemized costs, effectively borrowing their desired profit from the bank up front.

Why would someone take a loan on (potential) future income when they don’t have to?

If they overestimated the profit margin they baked into the loan, and they have to sell lower than the loan, I assume it won’t be the bank holding the bag?
The giant conglomerates are the ones that can afford AI at a scale to lay off people. Smaller companies are still going to need people, hell I worked for a “big small” company that was afraid to use cloud hosting.

The AI my giant company makes us use, MS Co-Pilot, isn’t impressive IMHO. It struggles with anything beyond an easy search engine or bouncing ideas off, the “deliverables” it creates are absolute trash.

As I’ve worked through my career, it’s shocking how lazy and inefficient people are in general. The older generation can’t use basic collaborative tools, let alone something like AI. A lot of people just seem to do the bare minimum and hope no one notices how little they do. These are the people that AI will replace, but it will be AI+a person that can just be more efficient.

There’s no easy way to predict what jobs may be impacted, but helping my/your kids learning “transferable” skills is going to be more important than ever I think. Things like being able to speak properly, write properly, convey ideas, empathy, the ability to influence/lead, emotional intelligence, interacting/presenting with/to people, being organized, work ethic, being able to adapt/embrace to new tools/tech (like AI), etc.

Or as others have said, start with a job that requires use of your hands, learn the basics of running a business, and make your own thing.

All is easier said than done, but that’s true of most things in life.
Realized my wife had given me the wrong koozie and got the OG/GOAT installed on my beer.
