Exactly. I think they had patience with him. Way more than I would have.

No need to be Obtuse1 here, the law is clear: you only have to identify if the cops suspect you of a crime.

And the travesty isn't really him getting hauled in, as that happens pretty regularly. It's that the charges were not only pushed forward but a judge convicted on them.

he's a lawyer, genius.

If you see something say something..........sound familiar?

If I would have seen this jerk wandering around with all this gear, in a public building, I'd ask myself what the hell????

He "looks" to me like a typical shite stirer but I'm damn near 80 and most of you young pukes look wierd to me anyway.

Stay off my lawn.

If a cop asks for identification, give it to him. Outside of an overt crime, the odds of being arrested in a library in Nachitoches with a Louisiana driver's license are near zero

The cops were more than patient with this troll. They have better things to deal with

What i don't understand is how the judge can deny him a jury trial and an attorney. If the charge has a penalty of 30 days in the pokey, seems a jury trial and an attorney are in order. Thats a fairly significant loss of liberty to ole LT

I think the reasoning was that the jail time was not automatic, but at the judge's discretion. Of course in the end the judge discretely threw the book at him, so...

If this happens all the time maybe if he politely introduced himself to the librarian and explained what he was trying to do (wifi connection, uploading video etc) she would’ve helped him out. He’s doing this for content so frick him.

This guy was not looking for reception, etc. He was looking for a response to his purposefully provocative/menacing behavior.
he was looking for a view of the front so that he could see when the cops arrived and good lighting for his confrontation. The librarian offered to help him and he could’ve just been nice, explained to her what he was doing knowing full well that the cops have been called on him before. The judge might have found his YouTube videos where he was doing the same thing in other locations and wanted to make it worth his while.

frick this drifter.

But cops have much more to do than have to deal with an idiot, black or white, who is simply trying to cause an issue.

You mean cops have much more to do than dealing with innocent people that some old idiot lady thinks is "suspicious"?

My take is that they had reasonable suspicion to question him.

Whether it lead to probable cause sufficient for an arrest, who knows, the video is edited.

I also question the veracity of his allegations about his legal proceedings.

It's laughable how he implies that the judge knowing the prosecutor and the arresting officer is a conflict of interest. Well of course he knows them, if he didn't that would be weird. They likely have matters before him every week.

Guy's credibility is questionable, he's a grifter.

Then he wouldn't get to make a bullshite video. He knew carrying multiple backpacks and wandering around the library filming the place in an age of mass shootings and bombings would provoke a response. He knew being curt with the librarian would up his intimidation level. The narrator of the video is a bullshitter. This guy was not looking for reception, etc. He was looking for a response to his purposefully provocative/menacing behavior.

All of this. He was definitely acting strangely (on purpose) and when questioned for help he was an a-hole (on purpose), so the librarian's actions were fine IMO. There was definitely a dude with backpacks acting suspiciously there. Had she not done something and then he killed someone, she would be blasted for lack of action IMO.

I have no problem with the initial arrest honestly. He was "within his rights" to do and say what he did, just as the cops were "within the law" to do and say what they did. This all could've been avoided, but that's not what this a-hole wanted at all. Hell, even the extremely biased video in the OP ends with same "Be sure to like/subscribe/donate...." bullshite that all of these kinds of videos end with, because that's what it's all about.

I do have an issue with how this was handled once he was arrested and given bail though. I don't know what the rules/laws are about representation, but denying him that seems like a stretch and something that should be looked into. And the end result of 30 fricking days in jail for essentially trespassing (for lack of a better word; I know that's not what it is..) is obviously ridiculous. But this is exactly what the guy wanted, and now he will not only make money from Natchitoches for this, but also from donations from idiots on the internet. And then he will travel into the next town and rinse and repeat. So all that being said, I hate this idiot and don't feel bad for him at all (since it's what he wanted from the get go).

Must have been Travis' lucky or unlucky day, if normally it would take an overt crime to be arrested in a Natchitoches library. I think it was the arrival of officer Thurman Miller that reversed the overwhelming odds.
