She had the top down. After getting out of the car she turned and pressed her key locking the car doors.

Ok y’all just keep leaving doors unlocked and deal with the shitty society that is America now. You may can raise your family right, but most of these people out here are fricked and I’d rather have a locked door and a Glock on my hip.
This is a weird take
I'm sure the teacher feels awful and always will. Leaving a door unlocked that results in a 1 in 10,000,000 tragedy in a fairly small town is just regular old carelessness. There's nothing egregious about it. It's just awful all around. Most of us probably do things in our car on a daily basis that are more statistically likely to result in death or injury than this teacher.
No idea what your rant about unlocked doors generally is

You have no viable solution to this either.
Like your rhetoric, moral compass, and skull, it’s just empty bullshite.

Nope, no one should be absolved of this because this has been on going since 1997. Just like Private Duffy mistakenly let in an under cover Taliban and he blew up a tent of contractors. You know you are the target location, as an adult who is supposedly specialized, you should know to be vigilant.

Let me know when that starts. So far, most of what I have heard is blaming the inanimate object used by the murderous bastard.
Once the cries for me surrendering my rights subside then maybe focus can change.

You can’t fix the root of the problem Anyone who thinks this is utterly worthless to society.
You can fix it but nobody wants to do what it takes. Nobody wants to face the truth, and it has nothing to do with guns.
Government can’t fix it entirely either. Regulating medication of kids and bringing back mental health involuntary commitment for those who are clearly disturbed would help.
But the biggest thing is we need fathers in kids lives. We need mothers who stay at home and raise their kids rather than pawn them on a daycare. We need nuclear families who preach a basic set of morals and discipline regardless of religion. We need a culture of more love and nurturing and less selfishness. We need to stop encouraging mental illness like transgenderism and other perversions.
Kids need stability, structure, love and discipline in the home. Without it, this is what you get. And occasionally you just get a person who isn’t right in the head, and we need to be able to recognize those people and get them professional help.

root of the problem
1 - erosion of parental responsibility
2 - condemnation of 'community enforcement' of acceptable norms of behavior.
deliberate exacerbation of the /above\ two by a political party and its supporting cabal in order to produce a majority population that can not fend for itself and is dependent on the Fed Gov for their very day-to-day existence.

The unlocked door certainly made it far easier than it should have been, but he could have also just shot his way into the main entrance like the Sandy Hook shooter if it came to that.
Easier? This doesn’t happen if that door is locked.. Teacher needs to be held accountable. Also had the teachers known that door was unlocked they would have locked their classroom door. Stupidity and selfishness

Don’t downvote this. The effin door is supposed to be locked. A teacher propping it open is culpable. Period. He/she violated district policy. This IS a fireable offense. If we keep letting bureau and others off the hook for an oversight, then we’ll continue to have the carnage we’re seeing. Stop making excuses for these people who facilitated these types of heinous acts. Period. If you don’t like it, get off this board. I don’t want you here anymore because you don’t matter to me.
This is 100% correct. I mean obviously the cops and the shooter himself were far worse but the school has some culpability here.
The other thing I want to knows this dude was in the street outside shooting for 12 damn minutes. How did the school not initiate a lockdown procedure earlier?!?!? I can understand it he had just crashed his truck, shot a few rounds, and ran into the school. But he was out there for 12 minutes and already fired a number of rounds.
The school failed bigly. And I know people don’t want to point fingers but it’s true

I don't think that was it. She parked it right in front of the all glass wall of the store. She could watch her car while ordering her drink.

No one could’ve protected these. This looney shouldn’t have been able to buy a gun. Y’all let the kids down
Posted on 5/27/22 at 3:08 pm to crewdepoo
He bought the gun legally. Acquiring 60 mags is where my mind wanders.

We are but since Columbine, risk management protocols have been developed to prevent or lessen the impact of events like this.
Teacher leaving a door for open - huge mistake
Police not rushing in to engage shooter -huge mistake
And so on. Crazy people do crazy things. Have to plan for such items and stick to the plan to help prevent.

I'll go ahead and say it - I hope the rest of your life is misery filled. You propped open the door while you went and retrieved your cellphone, supposedly from your car in the parking lot where the shooter was hunkered down behind a car, and then left the door propped opened when you went back inside the building. No doubt you were on the damn phone when you went back inside therefore distracting your attention away from closing the door. Five seconds of inattentiveness created all this carnage.
That said, how did the shooter know that the door that is usually locked would be open?

In other words, another day at the office. Too harsh on that Teacher; they’ll probably go suicidal. From here forward they’ll tow the line.
Posted on 5/27/22 at 3:27 pm to Homesick Tiger
That teacher will live in mental hell for the rest of his/her life. I think that is punishment enough for such a small error that was turned big by an evil POS.

Dear OP - This is a school, not a bio lab or fortress.
How about we blame the frickstick that did it. Then blame his parents. Then blame police for being too fat and incompetent to help.
I'm not blaming a teacher for not treating every day like they are about to be attacked.
What's more important to protect than our children?
Here's the deal. People are screaming for change, common sense gun laws, etc. The first thing to do is evaluate current policies and procedures. This is an example of a security feature that is in place, but was not followed.

Yes this is the case. Every traumatic event should be handled this way, without a doubt. That is what makes us get better.
But wishing the teacher a misery filled rest of her life? Thats a bit much wouldnt you say?
