The teacher who left the door open

I'll go ahead and say it - I hope the rest of your life is misery filled. You propped open the door while you went and retrieved your cellphone, supposedly from your car in the parking lot where the shooter was hunkered down behind a car, and then left the door propped opened when you went back inside the building. No doubt you were on the damn phone when you went back inside therefore distracting your attention away from closing the door. Five seconds of inattentiveness created all this carnage.

The weirdest thing to me about all of this is that a lot of teachers wont admit that the door should have been locked. It will be “we shouldn’t have to worry about this to begin with” or “kids shouldn’t be locked in a fortress”.
The fact is that this shite wont stop. You can’t fix the root of the problem because the root is evil. So you might as well lock the fricking doors.

And there it is. No one is saying the fault Is all on the teacher, but these same teachers lock their car doors at Walmart parking lots. So why the frick shouldn’t we lock the school doors?

How are you going to fix the root of the problem? It IS possible, but the truth is too offensive for everyone these days so it’s not possible in this society.

Well I’ve already heard that take from 2 teachers. A lot of them are feeling guilty because they also leave their doors unlocked at their schools too.
That’s all it is. The shooter never decides to kill and we don’t have to worry about him, but a damn rapist could have walked through that same unlocked door and kidnapped or raped a kid in there.

I used to teach high school. I never, ever, for any reason propped an outdoor door open while kids were in the school. I only ever did it to move things in and out of my classroom to my car at the beginning and end of each school year.

I don't even leave doors unlocked in my own home when I'm there. May as well just hang signs out "All doors unlocked" if people aren't going to think of safety first.
