No. There is protocol for a reason. This is negligence and that teacher and the school board should be sued into oblivion and bankruptcy.

Who knows if the gunman would try to force his way in or look for another target.

I mean, someone in that frame of mind was going to shoot people, but had he not had ready access to the building, he might have moved on.

I like how some mentally deranged evil POS frick just massacred 19 innocent kids and everyone’s knee jerk reactions are to blame gun control, cops, and now the teachers.

This is why society has come to where we have this sort of mental illness. Nothing is ever anyone’s fault.

People often block secure doors open to grab a smoke. It's an extremely common violation of security protocol. You'll see cigarette butts and a large stone or other object near most any back or side door. The cellphone may be a PC excuse for a cigarette break, especially since most schools are smoke-free.

That being said, who would expect a school in the sticks to be a target? Things need to change.

Well teachers think they know everything, but have spent their whole lives in a classroom. There should be a requirement for teachers to gain some actual world experience before becoming a teacher IMO.

This board all of a sudden for more control and defending schools when they’re the ones around our children the most.

But it was the shooter who is ultimately at fault.

Or maybe we just take assault rifles and weapons that have no purpose other than slaughter out of society.

Why exactly do you need an ar 15?

The craziness of passing any blame on someone for leaving the door open, which happens everyday in countless school locations across the country is next level nuts. It's kinda like not locking the door behind you when you arrive home from work. Nobody anticipates something like this, especially at an elementary school.

Agree to disagree. School protocols exist for a reason. And it's already happened in elementary schools before.

I mean, if the door is locked, he likely isn't trying to force his way in. Maybe he is, maybe he isn't, but if he has to force his way in, people know he is there way earlier.

You may make excuses all you want, but, as sad as it is, this breach of protocol made this tragedy 100% easier to occur.

Agreed. The teacher will suffer enough over this. I honestly feel a bit bad for the teacher. The teacher may have cut a corner, but we’ve all done this to one degree or another and she/he just happened to do it at the wrong place and wrong time.

Yeah. She fricked up immensely. They said she was getting her phone. She probably just didn’t want to have to walk the long way to get back to her room or something.
