I'm not sure I was ever really aware of this. You could be minding your own business, taking a shite on the street, and literally swallowed up by the earth. The big one is inevitable.

quote:

The latest US Geological Survey (USGS) quake data estimates that 1906-type earthquakes occur at intervals of about every 200 years. This is based on the long-term rate of slip on the San Andreas fault and the amount of offset that occurred on the fault in 1906. However, the USGS believes there is only a two percent chance such an earthquake could occur in the next 30 years. And the real threat to the San Francisco Bay region in the coming decades comes not from a 1906-type Big One, but from smaller (approximately magnitude 7) earthquakes occurring on segments of the San Andreas fault, called the Hayward fault or Rodgers Creek fault.

That is the one natural event that I want no part of. Pretty much everything else you can either avoid, find shelter or prepare for it. You can’t do anything about an eartquake.

Most Americans can't answer simple geography questions but you think that they are informed when it comes to extremely complex geophysical processes that occur over large temporal scales.

My sister lived in the Bay Area for 12 years and I visited every year, it's a mesmerizing place with Reno, Tahoe within driving distance. Muir Woods, Pebble Beach, Alcatraz, the wine country on and on and on.

We took the Amtrack to Reno once and it was cool as shite

Too bad the Democraps have let it go to shite, literally.

the best part about the San Andreas fault is that if it just breaks off into the ocean, whats left of California becomes a red state

Red State rednecks/ law enforcement/the military are the ones they will rely on to save/rebuild them after the shite hits the fan. There is a deep irony in that.

I knew this. San Fran is basically sitting on top of a ticking timebomb just waiting to explode.
