The Orgy Dome will soon be resurrected. After high winds at last year’s Burning Man festival destroyed the tent that hosts sex-positive workshops and public sex parties, organizers are returning to the playa with a redesigned structure they hope will withstand the desert’s famously unpredictable weather. “We will no longer use a series of interconnected carports; our structures will now combine circus tents and an actual event dome which will serve as our main play space,” said the camp’s lead organizer, who gave only his “Burning Man name,” Baby Jesus.

The Orgy Dome is expected to return as Burning Man begins Aug. 30 in Nevada’s Black Rock Desert. This year’s festival, organized around the theme “Axis Mundi,” runs through Sept. 7, according to the Burning Man Project.
The camp’s return follows a chaotic setback at last year’s festival, when powerful winds tore the structure apart shortly after it was built. Organizers said the damage forced the Orgy Dome to close for the remainder of the event.
