Life gets busy. Responsibilities pile up. Free time to cook well and eat well and exercise well gets hard to come by. Also, life is more expensive than ever.

We should prioritize our health. These are all just bad excuses.

I don’t base my respect for someone based on their body fat.

Not trying to turn this into a political thread but if Trump wanted to MAGA he should sign an executive order that companies can no longer sale or produce yoga pants larger than medium.

I’ve tried to get away from it but I can’t. I look down on fat people while making every effort not to let it show.
Footnote: remember all those people who just couldn’t lose weight? It was genetics or metabolism or a weird something or other. But def not possible and don’t body shame: proud of their bodies. Well all those hogs got on Ozempic and look like Twiggy. Seems like all they had to do was stop eating.

I'm trying to drop weight again because I know its healthier. I eat two small oranges for breakfast. If I bring my lunch to work, it's typically a cup and a half of gumbo or some similar. If I don't, it’s a 6" subway sandwich. For dinner, it’s a small bowl of chicken and vegetables. If hunger gets the best of me, I eat a satsuma. Doing that EVERY day, nets me 1.5 lb loss a week. This includes doing crossfit 3x a week and walking at least a mile at lunch daily.

Try Intermittent fasting, either two meals a day or one if you can tolerate, and lay off the aforementioned potatoes and the fat will melt off if you keep up your workouts. Also, a nice walk after a meal never hurts.

I do crossfit at 55 years old, 3x a week, I weigh 250. I drink no alcohol or soft drinks. I'm incredibly fit, but would be considered obese.

Why are you 250 then

I was on a flight to Hawaii a few years ago, and I was stuck with a 62-year old fat man (380 LBs) who smelled like he had not changed his underwear in a week. He was weird to top it off. Nine hours of this makes me question my life choices.

99% of the OT is fat af- FACT
It's going to kill us all eventually, but in the meantime AI is incredibly fun to dick around with. Your post got me wondering, so I used max tokens on Astra Work and told it to devise its own methodology and give its best estimate for the age-old question: "How many OTers are actually fat fricks?"

The full report is several pages long, so here are the Cliffs:
quote:

The best demographic estimate for active TigerDroppings posters is approximately 46% obese, with an average BMI around 30.5. Obesity here means BMI of 30 or higher. A working range across demographic and regional scenarios is roughly 40–50%.

The analysis used individual records from CDC’s 2021–2023 NHANES, which physically measures height and weight, and 2024 BRFSS for regional comparisons. The central comparison population was ages 35–65, weighted to 90% male, 90% non-Hispanic White, and 40% college graduates. Those were working assumptions about the audience. The analysis tested 27 demographic combinations, additional age ranges, and different regional assumptions.

The central national comparison came out 44.4% obese, with mean BMI 30.3. Louisiana had higher obesity prevalence than demographically comparable people nationally; the difference for the broader South was considerably smaller. Two approaches to regional adjustment produced approximately 45–47% obesity and BMI 30.4–30.6 for an illustrative Louisiana/Southern audience mix. That supports the rounded estimate of 46% and 30.5.

Five separate AI agents contributed research and critical review. A statistical critic independently reproduced the main calculations using a different mathematical method. A measurement critic compared self-reported and measured BMI in the same survey participants. The calculations also reproduced published CDC benchmarks.

The matched national population was approximately 78% overweight or obese, including the obesity group. Anonymous forum weight claims received little weight and were not incorporated numerically. These findings are demographic estimates, not measurements of TD members, and the 40–50% range is a scenario range rather than a statistical confidence interval for the forum.

Be careful. Some people are overweight for reasons other than over eating. I am an ectomorph and have been skinny 99% of my life, but once had to take medication for five months that made me gain serious weight. And it was hard as hell to get off.

If you're going to body shame someone, you better be sure you know the root cause.

How obese?

Are we talking Homer Simpson or Peter Griffin fat where you can measure the jiggles with a stopwatch as they revolve around your body.

I am working on it. I was over 300 a few years ago. I am on the fat shots and now down to 260-270.
