I loathe this defeatist attitude. It consumes no time at all to not eat, and it doesn't require any more time to "eat well" than to prepare unhealthy meals. In fact, the simplest meals are often the most healthy.

It's doable for most, but it sure ain't easy.

This may be an excuse to be overweight, but with obesity you're making a subconscious decision to just say F* it, I rather eat all of this shite and not do anything, then put forth any effort.

Only ones I sympathize with are the obese children who only know what they've learned from their parents, especially elementary aged kids.

You need to go to a doctor or you are eating way more than you think you are.

Either way, you’re probably crash dieting and fricking your hormones up

Just had a complete physical last week. Full blood work and everything. I couldn't be healthier. My cholesterol was below 150, my A1C is perfect, etc.

I tried an experiment. If I eat the diet or caloric intake I listed in my previous post, I lose ~1.5 pounds a week. In the evenings I added 3 chips ahoy cookies and a single cup of milk. With that same diet and the cookies and milk, my weight remained static for a month. As soon as I cut out the cookies and milk, I went back to the 1.5 lb weight loss.

Buy a food scale, get a calorie-tracking app, and use both consistently for a while.

I've got a significant history with "my fitness pal" tracking that stuff. At the suggested caloric intake, I don't lose anything. I think it suggested around 2k calories but I remain static there.

That's what I'm doing. I'm beating down the hunger pangs with little satsuma oranges. They seem to work really well, that and cherry tomatoes.

Great question, I'm just really efficient.

I read an article years ago about a guy that was a regular Ironman participant and was chubby. They found out while exercising, his metabolism was consistent with other athletes, when he stopped, he went into couch potato mode. I thought "that poor guy" and that guy was me.

That said while I'm "technically" obese due to my weight, if you saw me, you probably wouldn't consider me obese, or maybe you would...

I remember telling myself this lie.

If you're 250, there is absolutely zero chance you were tracking properly and not losing weight.

It's 260 calories. That's how close I am to my basal calorie rate.

Tell me more. My logic is, if I eat diet "X" and lose roughly 1.5 pounds a week, and for 4 weeks, I eat diet X and add 1 cup of milk and 3 cookies and lose no weight, I've got to be close to my basal metabolic rate eating diet "X".

Are you talking about the cookies and milk not equaling 1.5 pounds? I agree they don't exactly but neither is my activity level exactly constant.

Still interested to hear your thoughts
