re: Somebody explain the outdoor griddle phenomenon to me.
Posted by Bowstring1 on 6/20/26 at 1:18 pm to Slippy
I enjoy cooking outside. I have a large screened in outdoor cooking area and cook a lot of different ways out there. although I do have a blackstone I find myself using my 18” castiron skillet a lot more. Basically the same thing and easier to clean

In the US, for any able bodied person….poverty is a choice
re: “I saw the world from up on your shoulders” is such a hell of a line about dads

That is a fantastic album, and particularly a great song. I probably listen to music more than the average person does, and I can tell you that the first time I heard that song I had tears in my eyes. Both from thinking about my own father, but also as a father of four boys( whom I am very close with), I realize just how they see me. This may sound crazy, but it is such a well written song that I do not listen to it on a regular basis.

re: Charlie Starr fingerpicking lesson!
Posted by Bowstring1 on 5/21/26 at 6:06 am to auggie
In a world where truly good music and good musicians are hard to find, Charlie star is the shining star(no pun intended) he is an amazing musician and songwriter and truly cares about good Well played music! Furthermore, he has an apparent extreme Appreciation of music and musicians that came before him and the path they laid.he very gracefully and humbly pays homage to them.
re: Triumph question thoughts

Lay it on the line! In my opinion, most 80s rock ‘n’ roll is pretty terrible but triumph definitely had some good music
re: Barnyard Grass

It is very good on barnyard grass, but make sure that the barnyard grass is actively growing. I would wet it down really really good a couple days prior to treating.
re: Kids finding music
Posted by Bowstring1 on 5/6/26 at 9:33 pm to deeprig9
3 of my boys have been playing music from an early age. They started a band less than 2 years ago and have become pretty popular in our area. Rooted in southern rock and 70’s rock and roll
re: I nominate the quote below for quote of the year. What's yours?

Got the DVD probably 25 years ago. I have always been a huge Guy Clark fan along with Townes Van Zandt and Steve Earle. Can’t recommend this enough to people who really appreciate what good music is.
re: I’m having trouble justifying my stance against the death penalty…

Not enforcing the death penalty in cases such as this is the ultimate disrespect of human life.
re: Why is it always the Roman Catholic Church that gets political
Posted by Bowstring1 on 4/14/26 at 9:08 pm to Ten Bears
I am sorry, but you are wrong. On matters of politics the pope is basically speaking for himself. On matters of Catholic doctrine then he is speaking on behalf of the Catholic Church. A huge difference.
re: Props to good new bands
Posted by Bowstring1 on 4/11/26 at 7:50 pm to GeauxBurrow312
I am not too sure what constitutes a New or old band but to me these are definitely newer bands. I have been listening to music for a long time. In my opinion, there is very few good bands out there making good music anymore. This list does contain some very good bands.
re: Leaving Mass right after Communion
Posted by Bowstring1 on 4/5/26 at 6:45 pm to LSU1018
Actually…. If all you make it there for is the consecration and communion then you have participated at Mass
re: Leaving Mass right after Communion
Posted by Bowstring1 on 4/5/26 at 4:56 pm to VolsOut4Harambe
I suppose there could be reasons for leaving before the final blessing but to walk away while the Eucharist is still exposed is really hard to imagine. If you believe Christ did what he did and said what he said and was who he was then there is no way that you could walk out at that point.!
