Why not? I'd like to hear it.

Meh. I eat very few sweets. I'm probably about 80%-85% carnivore.

No, you ARE stupid. Its pretty easy to understand. Your body feeds off carbs. Take carbs away and its forced to live off something else, fat.

What makes it "good"?
Sweet potatoes aren't really good for you, but they're a little better for you than a regular potato. Sweet potatoes have more fiber in them, which reduces the net carbs in them and helps slow down their digestion. They also have a lot of Vitamin A.

quote:Yeah exactly, there would be several days where I could eat a dozen almonds and have a couple cups of coffee with cream for breakfast and not get hungry again until dinner. I generally felt "full" for much longer, so in addition to being fat-adapted you end up eating less from simply not desiring to eat as often.
yeah reducing carbs (without going extreme keto either in trying to get ketosis or eating a pound of butter and bacon a day) is just good advice for the vast majority of people. the reason why is satiation. you will eat fewer calories overall if you satiate yourself properly while eating. carbs are utterly terrible in terms of calories used to satiate yourself (and many carby snacks have 0 satiation and insane calories)
Also, as someone who did it for awhile, the ones eating butter and shite for fun will not last long. Eat your goddamn vegetables you monsters

You are going to fall out of your chair when you learn there are folks out there only eating meat, and nothing else, for decades, and thriving.
All keto really does is remove the completely shitty "fad" diets we've been eating for only the last ~70 years. Ketosis is a completely natural ability of the human body to thrive when food intake is low, and we are able to maintain when blood glucose levels are low.
As to the comment "people just gain it all back when they get off the diet" Well no shite, their body cannot handle the carbohydrate intake. Of course they put the weight back on. If you're a type II diabetic, you'd be doing yourself a favor to look into keto to reduce the need to take insulin...sometimes even removing the need. You don't reverse the disease, it isn't a disease, its a condition of the body's inability to tolerate different foods.

Keto, Atkins, South Beach all work, for a while.

yeah i've fallen off the wagon but when i was doing things well i would eat the shite out of my veggies
meat, veg, cheese, nuts, and water. that was all i ate during the week and i'd be much more flexible on the weekends
and the best thing about cutting carbs is it makes you want to eat carbs less. i never really tried to get to ketosis, but if i went 5-7 days minding carbs, it was a lot easier to keep minding carbs. there was a lot of inertia

I’d believe this. I personally feel everyone has a different body type that thrives on different things. While you may thrive on meat some of us do better in carbs and green veggies.
The common denominator though is this..
We typically work out and don’t eat shite junk food

I don't do keto and don't particularly think I would like it.
But you do know that the below is not a typical keto meal for anyone with a brain, right?
I hate the weird arse substitutions for shite that doesn't actually make the food any lower in calories as much as anyone, but your average keto-goer isn't eating those anyway. They're eating lean protein, vegetables, healthy fats, etc.

no, diet without exercise is fine in terms of health.
I would think you would need a narrow definition of "health" for that to be true.
Barbell Medicine

Physical inactivity is a major health problem worldwide and is the fourth greatest global risk factor for mortality according to the World Health Organization (WHO), behind high blood pressure, tobacco use, and elevated blood sugar (WHO 2009). It predisposes individuals to a wide variety of chronic diseases, including cardio-cerebrovascular disease, metabolic disease, musculoskeletal disorders, frailty, and many others
quote:
Regular participation in physical activity, including resistance training, has well-documented benefits for numerous health outcomes, diseases, and risk of premature death (Kodama 2009 Wescott 2012). For example, taking an additional 2000 steps per day (about 20 minutes of brisk walking) reduces the risk of having a cardiovascular event by 10% and reduces the risk of having elevated blood sugar by 25% (Yates 2014 Ponsonby 2011). With respect to resistance training in particular, there appears to be a 23% reduction in all-cause mortality in individuals who resistance train 2-3 times per week (Dankel 2016), with a “dose-response” relationship between training volume and improvements in health outcomes

Yep. My wife has an auto-immune disorder that affects her gall bladder and liver. She tried keto and it wreacked havoc on her body. She lost some weight, but her liver enzymes were thrown way out of whack and she nearly went into jaundice.

It’s simple if you eat sugar you either burn it or store it. 99.9 % don’t burn what you eat calories are the biggest myth ever. It’s all about the gasoline/sugar
