It takes diet and exercise together. One without the other doesn’t get you anywhere.

no, diet without exercise is fine in terms of health.

again, if you're talking aesthetics, working out matters more (but even then, diet is still more important)

There’s no short cut. Keto is not sustainable and you gain most of your weight back as soon as you get back on carbs. Just go to the gym, lift some shite, regulate what you eat, and do it the right way. But that’s obviously too difficult nowadays.

Stop making sense, baw.

I've been doing "lazy" keto for 3 years now, off an on. By lazy, I mean I don't count my carbs and just avoid sugar and starches as much as possible. It's allowed me to get off high cholesterol meds as my numbers dropped back into the normal zone. I also lost 30 pounds and have kept them off for the most part.

Similar story here, started around 255, got as low as 185 and got lazy with it and stopped two years ago. Obviously gained some back, but you learn how to cook and regulate your eating as well on keto, and through that I've maintained around 195 since. Now I'm not going to pretend like that's anything close to what I should be at, but it's definitely better off than the 60 extra pounds I was carrying for years.

yeah reducing carbs (without going extreme keto either in trying to get ketosis or eating a pound of butter and bacon a day) is just good advice for the vast majority of people. the reason why is satiation. you will eat fewer calories overall if you satiate yourself properly while eating. carbs are utterly terrible in terms of calories used to satiate yourself (and many carby snacks have 0 satiation and insane calories)

If it works for people then more power to them. Not something I'm going to try but the keto diet threads on the health board are highly entertaining. A guy posted about eating 30 something eggs a day a while back.

Can we throw in the fact most people don’t know the difference between refined carbs and complex carbs?

Fat asses please hear this.

A sweet potato is good. Potato chips are bad.

Put the cookie down and eat blueberries. Your body will thank you.

Highly possible if you follow keto for the 60-90 days it’s made for, and then continue to workout after you’re off of it.

That said, it's definitely not a diet for everyone and can cause long term health problems for some people.

That's because most people can't/won't do it properly. Any time I've done it I'd go with as many raw vegetables as possible and hamburger steak or something from the grill.

The dipping pork skins in cheese dip is a little too far for me though.

Some people do it legit like my youngest daughter. I don't think she has eaten any bread or pasta in over 5 - 7 years. But she is a fitness nut.

Oh

eating butter by itself is just nasty

Isn't that like 18x the suggested amount of daily cholesterol intake?

That's not true. There are a few big keto proponents, but it's not the majority.

Started the carnivore diet 2 weeks ago. Literally the easiest diet and the best results I've ever seen in my life.

Try reading some stuff on dietary cholesterol published after the 1980s.

I’m not going to get into a pissing match with someone about why a sweet potato is good for you.

As for the cookie. Enjoy a cookie. A cookie can be delicious. Just don’t eat a sleeve of Oreos and wonder why you’re fat.

I can imagine. I’m the only one in my family. We coexist fine.
