If there is a societal collapse in the US, almost assuredly, there will be a societal collapse globally and there will be few if any places to go.

Home. I’m surrounded by woods and terrain that I know like the back of my hand, I’m on a small lake that’s spring fed, and I’ve got the Homochitto national forest just a bike ride from the house. I’m good

If it really hit the fan I'd make the 4 hour drive to my grandparents place.
120 acres of land with 5 stocked ponds and woods for hunting.
They have an entire building solely for gun storage with bullet loading equipment and supplies.

Jokes on you... i live down a dead end road, that ends in a wildlife reserve, and I hunt in my back yard...... that wild life area is in a bend in a river. so, we are pretty well secluded.
just a handful of houses.
coming down my road there are 2 small creeks with bridges...
I'm dropping the largest tree I can across my road to cutoff traffic (keeping the city folk on THAT side), and holding it down out in the country.
I got a generator that I can run my water well... I'm good for a WHILE.....

I live in a heavily populated area of the most populated state.
I'm screwed.
Yeah, I have guns and Boy Scout skills and a vintage car without an electronic ignition but I'd most likely be taken out in the stampede of the literally millions of other people around me.
Slow zombies I could handle. Masses of living arseholes most likely not.

It's a tough call bc I'd want to be away from large groups of people and near water for fishing, hunting and drinking but it would be a massive lift to pack up all the basics i'd feel I need.
This seems to be the most common school of thought but I’ve always questioned whether it’s correct.
If you use “smaller scale” collapse as a proxy…those caused by local/regional warfare, famines, etc, the people who survive seem to be the people stay with there local communities, and if you have to move, you move as a group.
Basically you form your own little pocket society with your neighbors and defend it the best you can. Go it solo, and you’re either a target to nefarious groups or an outside/potential threat to groups that could have been allies.

Staying put. I've got enough supplies to hold out for a couple of weeks. I'll let everyone else bug out and then scavenge their houses once they are gone.

Can we make a TD bug out spot where all of us can get together and share supplies and look at each other's ole ladies in person?

Stay, because we live really close to the middle of nowhere and we have intelligent neighbors, most if not all of whom are armed.
We have a major river at the edge of our property and an island in that river if we have to grow our own food, Also several herds of deer cross our acreage, wild turkeys and even ground hogs. Only two easily defensible roads to where we are.
Two wood stoves, a 200 year old log cabin at the north end of our house, and over a hundred acres of forest,
We're ready and can and have survived without electric power for over a week. Easily.

My primary concern would be access to drinking water. I guess if I had enough warning, I could always drain my pool and then refill it with freshwater. I’d just need a lot of bleach to sanitize what I’d be removing to drink.

I’m sure I will be in the same general area I was when Y2K was supposed to takeover the world. It worked okay for me then.

Country. Actually, looking at small 25 to 30 ft sailboats right now too.

Getting to the marina and stealing a sailboat asap.

Smart. See where they’re at and steal one when it’s time.

How big is your farm? What kind of livestock do you have? Do you honestly think you can hunt/fish your way out of a collapse?
Not only that but small militias looking for supplies will take him out
