The "it" hits the fan. Societal collapse. You fleeing to the country or staying home?

On one hand you say get out of the city immediately bc it will be anarchy in the streets right away.
But on the other hand do you have a way of packing and transporting all of your survival gear to a possible several hours drive away? Guns / ammo/ food/ water/ fuel/ shelter/ medicine and then you're literally out in the elements.
At home you have a roof over your head. Can lock doors. can open windows (with screens) to get air and keep bugs out.
It's a tough call bc I'd want to be away from large groups of people and near water for fishing, hunting and drinking but it would be a massive lift to pack up all the basics i'd feel I need.

The challenge is getting to the spot.
If you see it coming a week beforehand, go.

A bank of sand bag firing positions on the front and back porch and a couple on the roof outside our boys bedroom windows will deter the initial knuckleheads.

As will other people that will be willing to kill you for access to those same resources.
There is no escaping societal collapse. Country people will eat their own as needed just like urban areas. Survival of the fittest and most ruthless will rule the day.

Do you honestly think hunting and fishing will keep you fed?
Do you honestly think you will be able to drive there?

I am 15 miles from the nearest small town here in Louisiana. Have plenty of land to fish, hunt, lots of trees, have wood burning stove for cooking or heat if prolonged power outages. Have home generator with 1000g tank which if rationed could last for a few months. Been slowly prepping for a few years now.
