I always went to the library at Louisiana College when I had to do papers in high school.
It wasn’t worth crossing the river to go to Ellick.

Let’s say we lost all knowledge from the internet and didn’t get the internet back for 1300 years. That’s roughly what happened there.
This is why is still have a set of Encyclopedia Brittanica from 1985, an old Gray’s Anatomy, a bunch of DVDs, and a giant record collection.

Are we talking about the one in Louisiana.....or the other one in Virginia

Muslims have been using this as an excuse for their own backwardness for 800 years now.

One could only wish something like this would happen.

It 100% set human intellect back hundreds of years.
We would have all of the writings of Aristotle, Plato, Plutarch, Xenophon, and hundreds of others had it not burned down

Good fiction novel mostly about the Alexandria library - this author researches her subjects meticulously.

Saw some people online talking about Buddha being black. Add the first Buddhists to your list
Maybe it's just anecdotal, but a lot of these claims seem to come from black people that were raised in Western nations.

Today we have Chinese steel. You sure you want to stick with this?

Apparently there was a fire that burned down the library at the University of Alabama a while back, that was quite a tragedy as 1000s of books were lost, nearly half of which hadn’t been colored in yet.

Didn't realize you needed a library to transfer the knowledge of not fricking your sister and children.

The Pantheon in Rome was built 2000 years ago. It has a domed roof. In the 1500s a big church was built in Florence but the domed roof was not finished for over 100 years because nobody knew how to do that any more.
This is again incorrect.
It’s not that people didn’t know how to do it, it’s that people didn’t do it for reasons of wealth, time, manpower etc…
Also, I dk how this has anything to do with the library at Alexandria, in fact it proves my point.
People don’t build domes, blame books that were destroyed in a library on a different continent than where the most famous dome was built

But I don’t think it was necessarily what you’re thinking of. Like there are histories missing. And cookbooks. And travel logs. And philosophies. And some science. Things like that.
That is not my understanding - the Library at Alexandria was the centerpoint of intellectual conversation and advancement. Scribes were not that interested in documenting Aunt Judy's gumbo recipe.
It is my understanding it was more like the meeting place for the "Mensa"-equivalent and supported the documentation of their theories, conclusions, and explanations.

Exactly. Just an excuse that western apologist historians happily latch on to
