Does anyone know if in Ascension parish new river canal is expected to rise or is it not connected to the back losing waterways? I know they use pumps but I'm ignorant on this.
I'm interested in this question as well as Black Bayou and Duckroost Bayou. I live in the area inside all 3 bayous and can't find any info on how much higher they are expecting the water to get.

Can we get a sticky for all the types of relief that's available, details on who qualifies, for how much, and where the forms are?
I added the following text to the OP
quote:
Officials encourage anyone impacted by the storm to register damages sustained on the web or by phone at the following:

1-800-621-3362
1-800-462-7585
Authorities said registered damage claims in parishes added at a later time will be processed as those parishes are added. The four parishes currently declared federal disaster areas are eligible for the following kinds of assistance:
Individual Assistance to individuals and households
Public Assistance for emergency work and the repair or replacement of disaster-damaged facilities
Hazard Mitigation Grant Program Assistance for actions taken to prevent or reduce long term risk to life and property from natural hazards

It is rising at Albertsons on Burbank?
Yes.
Oh wow.
That is the furthest upstream that I have seen water rising.
Can anyone confirm this? If so, backwater flooding is occurring on Burbank and Bluebonnet.
From Bayou Fountain.

Still hearing that new river is flowing out of Gonzales. I have family members who live near it and have reported water around them has dropped throughout the day. Pumps are running but I would anticipate that they are shut down at some point tonight. Major props to the Marvin Braud pump station and whoever has kept it operational.

What is this location again?
It is rising at Albertsons on Burbank?
Yes, at Burbank and Bluebonnet. Steady increase since about 1 this afternoon when the drains began backing up. Haven't been back through since 8 or so to see if it has gotten much worse in the last 2+ hours.
Just to clarify, Albertson's is high and dry. They are quite elevated. I am just talking about street flooding.

We just now got data coverage back here. This subdivision is fine nk water. Outside it is a different story.

Our storage unit is underwater. Our entire life is in there are we are building now. Everything. Wedding albums, my baby's keepsakes, certificates, my first flute (incredibly sentimental), all my furniture, grandmothers China, my childhood photos, tigerband box full of memories. I'm trying not to be upset bc people have lost their homes, but it's all of our belongings.
Storage Center by Manchac? It was coming up quickly this afternoon. We grabbed whatever we could stuff into the car and left. While we were parked, it went from dry to ankle deep in just 30 min or so

The storage center on airline near old Perkins. Right before the ford dealership. I'm going to throw up.

Flood Update: if you live in South Livingston, Ascension or St. James Parishes get ready for more flooding!! The Amite has not crested yet at Port Vincent or French Settlement. As this water rises, it will fill backwater areas of each Parish, so you don't need to live by the river to experience flooding!! This is especially true for St. James Parish! After reading info from the St. James Parish President, it looks like if you flooded during Isaac, then you could flood again! Please stay aware of rising water. Have a plan and a place to go if you flood! Traffic is bad on I-10 since it is closed between Siegen Lane in Baton Rouge to Prairieville.

Now I'm focking angry we didn't come back from the beach. We could've done that today. DAMN IT

Sheriff Jeff Wiley giving updates - make no mistake - he is in charge of this parish.
You know that bribery investigation Parish President Kenny Matassa has right now? Those charges will stick if Jeff Wiley says they will stick.

know this is a terrible event, but flood insurance is not that expensive if your house was not in a flood zone. You cannot expect the government to fully reimburse you for the full value of your home.
Honestly? Posts like this are getting really old.
We all get it. Flood insurance good. No flood insurance bad.

I don't think you read my post correctly, I do not think the gov should reimburse a damn thing, people CHOOSE not to have flood insurance , I CHOOSE to buy flood insurance, if they are going to use my tax dollars to make them whole, then I want a refund for the premiums I paid

Isn't Jeff Wiley a god in those parts?

We have a 10x30 , somewhat in the middle. Climate controlled. 141, perhaps? I'm praying maybe by some chance since its in middle it won't be as bad? My husband is trying to remember where he put the box full of my childhood photos and our wedding albums, college albums. He said he knew it was on floor bc it was so heavy.

Really too dark for pictures. I will tell you this. Water esp at Burbank and Siegen has risen pretty significantly in roughly 3.5 hours. That rise is creeping down towards Bluebonnet.

sounds like someone's responding to a possible drowning... missed where
Posted on 8/14/16 at 10:35 pm to Tigerpaw123
There was no guarantee that the government would do that. So you slept soundly knowing you were 100% covered while the rest of us lived on the fact that this is a once in a 500 year storm. Doesn't mean you should be paid whole
Posted on 8/14/16 at 10:35 pm to tigerbandpiccolo
Does this mean flooding will can be expected in the neighborhoods off bluebonnet south of burbank?
