I'm at university villas, the water from bayou fountain here has dropped about an inch in the past 3 hrs. I realize water may be coming up from downstream but at this point-upstream, it is going down.

Sounds like Bayou Fountain is indeed rising then, at Bluebonnet. Those on the highland north side should be safe - that land is... well... high. But on the south side of that, all reports are that flooding is increasing there. It isn't a stretch to say Starring is probably next.

Same situation. Building a house and all belongings in same storage. Went about 9am to start getting stuff out. Our unit was in the back. Within a few hours water went from a few inches to almost knee deep. Father in Law drove in from Natchitoches with a motorcycle box trailer. He didn't get here until 4. We got most out but it's all ruined. It sucks but there are a ton of people who lost everything. Prayers with All.

Any updates on the U Club?
Not quite the UClub but I have a cousin in UClub South with his back yard dropping off into the origin point of Manchac. He said.

Good. It actually didn't get too high throughout these past few days. We were worried but it has been coming down. Thanks for asking
I think the University Club is at high enough elevation to be ok.
Eta: Has Manchac and Amite crested? Channel 2 keeps showing a graphic saying the water level is slowly falling.

I like in the complex across from that Albertsons, my guess it's getting water?

I feel very sorry for you. I lost a lot of my life before age 25 in Katrina. High school diplomas, awards, letter jacket, pictures, etc. You have every right to be upset - it's part of the process.

Friend of mine's house is the one straight back when you pull through the gate, right on the bayou. He's mighty close.

This is part of the reason it is going up at Siegen and at Bluebonnet. The water is hitting a point and then can no longer flow forward. Some of these areas saw drops in the water level before seeing this recent rise. Read this part of the article:

"In particular, there are three primary areas of concern. They include the neighborhoods surrounding Bayou Manchac, Bayou Fountain, and Ward's Creek. It is possible residents in those areas could see a slight drop in water levels Sunday, but backflow from the Amite could force the water to rise later in the evening and through Monday morning. "

Does the 7000 people rescued number seem low? Are we going to find a lot who didn't make it out?
I'm hoping everyone was able to make it to friends/family, but with the extent of this that number sounds way off.

I understand, just reporting where the water isn't rising at this point. Will stay up to watch it.

Re Burbank, agree with Super. i specifically checked out those new neighborhoods (don't remember names) along burbank this morning, and they are really LOW lying. Stay vigilant.

Our storage unit is underwater. Our entire life is in there are we are building now. Everything. Wedding albums, my baby's keepsakes, certificates, my first flute (incredibly sentimental), all my furniture, grandmothers China, my childhood photos, tigerband box full of memories. I'm trying not to be upset bc people have lost their homes, but it's all of our belongings.
I'm so sorry to be reading this. You have my thoughts and prayers but you will get thought this and it will be God's will.

I unfortunately think the houses backing into that water are in trouble. I hope more than anything that is not true.
