re: How bad is the real estate market in BR?
Posted by tigerbandpiccolo on 12/5/25 at 11:23 am to lilsnappa
Not sure what everyone else has said but I love your house. If I lived in Baton Rouge I’d buy it and it seems to be a very fair price based on many factors, the main being how nice your home is as well as the location.
I just bought a house for under that price but still close, and the interest rates make me want to vomit. Same house with my old interest rate would be over a thousand a month less for mortgage. I do feel that could be driving folks away bc between that and the insane homeowners insurance, it’s a lot right now.

Is another drop/pullback expected? I’d like to get into this one but not sure if I should wait or buy now at $66?
re: Middle class white women wanting Forrest Frank instead of Bad Bunny for the halftime show

He’s amazing. I’m white and middle aged, and my kids listen to him around the clock. There is plenty of things you can make fun of middle aged white women for, but this isn’t one. Unless you’re cool with the direction and destruction of all that is good in this country, then I’d get on board with this.
Charlie Kirk was a big Forrest Frank fan. He’s an amazing Christian and musician. I’d also love to see Brandon Lake perform with him.
They are trying to do an alternative show broadcasted from an arena on a different network. I pray they get it done, would be amazing to see how many people made the conscious choice to switch it over.

Bought AMD at 100 last year and sold a couple hundred shares this morning. Trying to figure out where to reinvest bc I have 300 in NVIDIA at 130 but not sure if good to buy more rn.

I did this almost three years ago. Idk what my true intentions were beyond wanting to improve my health and well being. Kept going and I really don’t know if I’ll ever drink again. I think you should do it.
re: Taylor Swift’s new album features a song about Travis Kelce’s penis called “Wood”
Posted by tigerbandpiccolo on 10/5/25 at 8:31 pm to Darth_Vader
I was generally neutral towards her. I liked some things and never got into her music the way others did.
But, her last album was dark and I related to just about every song on it, particularly and especially the smallest man to ever live. Then again, I was going through a tremendously dark time in my own life and the guy she was with must have done her similarly to how I was treated.
With all that being said, because I enjoyed that last album so much, I was excited to hear this one. I thought she would have a litany of songs with a little more depth about her love and relationship with Travis Kelce. Nope. I haven’t even gotten through it because it’s just kinda shitty. It’s uninteresting and trashy just for the sake of it.

It’s really not allowed. They cut it down to the last second most the time. But again, it’s because their crowd isn’t loud at all. I’ve been to every SEC stadium besides Mizzou and now OU since their entrance into the SEC.
Ole Miss is one of the least intimidating places we play. A&M is way louder and more organic in terms of their crowd noise and contributions to the game. Ole Miss noise is completely fake—when their crowd was at its loudest (after the cut the tornado siren noise that Arkansas also plays) we could still talk to one another. When Tiger Stadium is loud, you can’t have a conversation with the person next to you like I was on Saturday.

They piped in loud arse sound effects the entire game and when they’d pull it back and you heard the real crowd noise, it was funny. Arkansas does the same thing. Can’t generate their own.
They have a tiny band for a college marching band. They mic them and play through speakers while they play. Be glad they don’t have to do that with TGBFTL.
The music they played was fun to dance to, not unlike LSU, they also played plenty of rap.
They did play Callin Baton Rouge and Boosie at the end of the game, which was par for the course for them. Antagonistic.

re: Does anyone know the section where the band will sit for the Ole Miss game?
Posted by tigerbandpiccolo on 7/29/25 at 6:02 am to LouisianaLonghorn
I would be very surprised if that was actually true. If so, what a shame. If not, I recall they say us not too far from their student section twenty years ago. Ole Miss is the only game where I had stuff thrown at me—hit in the head with an empty desani bottle on the field before halftime. It was also cold. I hate Ole Miss.

No. Ive already stated that my medical outcome played absolutely ZERO role in how I feel about this. Whether I was actually about to die or not, this is an unethical billing practice that has no place in our society.
ETA: At this time I was paying $900/month for insurance that had an individual deductible of $2000 and $3000 as a family, I believe. If I’m paying that kind of money (and my employer undoubtedly supplementing that by more than I was paying) there is no fricking excuse. This is why Americans hate insurance—it is so, so fraudulent.

That’s absolutely atrocious. I really can’t believe this stuff is legal tbh.
Since apparently this stuff can now hit your credit (which I think is awful considering most people could be one major medical crisis away from bankruptcy) I may just call and offer them $5/month. Single mom of 4 kids, sorry about ya, but they take precedence and I don’t just have thousands laying around for unethical stuff like this.

Cheers to almost 20 years of friendship. I do consider some folks here to be my true, real friends who would do anything for me should I really be in crisis. Even Chicken has helped me out several times behind the scenes with very real family issues. Unfortunately you also have to deal with the trash but C’est La vie!

That is encouraging! Thank you so much and I’m glad you were able to get out of that.
Oh and fwiw, I still don’t want socialized medicine. Our medical system is absolutely broken, however.

Wow—I’m sorry. Cigna was also my insurance carrier at the time, fwiw. And yes, the hospital and providers were all in network which begs the question—why aren’t county ambulance services required to be in network with the major insurance companies that are in network with the hospitals they bring patients to?

Playing the results? Sir, whether I was having a fricking stroke or was simply dehydrated doesn’t change the fact that I would have gotten a bullshite bill that pissed me off. This has NOTHING to do with my medical outcomes.
I don’t have the energy or the GAF to argue with you anymore. I should have definitely known in advance to tell my husband to drive me versus let the medics take me for risk of not being in network. Do you know how wild that would have seemed in the moment? Go on.

I have such a love/hate relationship with this place and this thread demonstrates why. Thank you for the help to those who have honestly given me any insight or advice in handling it.
