I bet most Protestant/non-denominational 14 year olds have a better grasp of God’s word than 50 year old Catholics.
As a Catholic…. You right. And I hate to say that. But, it’s a huge part of the reason my kids attend non denominational.

Ok well that probably answers your question.
Two faiths within Christianity can work if both people are on the same page, and reciprocate efforts to respect and attend the other’s church.
If she isn’t willing to go to both, but being Catholic is important to you, then I’d dip now. The scenario you’re describing will be a nightmare in marriage and trying to raise kids.

Go to both.
We go to Mass at 10 and non denomination at 11.
I stopped grappling with it a long time ago. I’m Catholic but also love a non denominational church here for many reasons, the biggest being the community. I personally like the music because I grew up going to the contemporary Masses and played in some, so I honestly enjoy more charasmstic music and listen to it most of the time outside of church, as well.
My vote is to respect one another, go to both and find good in both. I doubt either are going to hurt your faith. Going to both has enhanced my faith and relationship with the Lord. The minute you stop trying to figure out who’s right versus wrong, and realize they’re both right… well, it will allow you to relax and grow.

Got out of my driveway in Little Rock today. Took a while to shovel the drift creating a 3 foot ramp where my garage opens.
Main roads are somewhat clear or mostly clear but all others are trash/ice. They’re not clearing anything besides main.
Little Rock Christian just called off school the rest of the week. LR school district called off tomorrow. Fully anticipating the diocese here cancelling rest of week. I just want my money back
It’s irrational but I calculate it to the penny in my mind during weeks at home like this.

Little Rock keeps showing freezing rain in the future cast but when it comes time, it’s been snow. Showing freezing rain most of the night but praying it turns to snow.

I moved into this home a month ago. I am getting a crash course on the ins and outs of this house, including whats gotta change before next winter. For instance, the laundry area stays freezing because they have a doggy door with a plastic covering over it in there. It clearly does little good because that room is freezing and I have to shut it off to the rest of the house to keep it contained. May be replacing that door before next year.
Of the 4 homes I’ve lived in here, 3 were on partial or mostly crawl space: I never appreciated how quiet my Louisiana homes were bc it doesn’t sound like Frankenstein when people walked around. And those floors get SO COLD in the winter.

Ha! The wind blew it over and last night I decided I’d leave it so that it could be the “constant” in the progression of the snow pics.
Also I’m delirious as the 2 year old was awake all night so apologies if my grammar gets dumb

Lots of snow for us here in WLR. It’s very pretty.
Hope those down in south ar/la/ms are going to be ok.

I have gas so I can definitely cook regardless. I’m starting two batches of chili and two batches of gumbo tomorrow, and everything else will be easy to heat meals and snacks. And we have a gas fireplace. You?

I know you’re being sarcastic but I will absolutely accept any of this board’s genuine prayers. I am so anxious rn.
We’ve dealt with plenty of snow since I’ve lived up here but never a freezing rain and ice situation.

Very strong ones. They did the “I don’t feel this at all, let me take another one” thing before coming up with that forecast.

Our local news channels information, for what I’m trying to decide, is clear as mud. It’s inches of sleet and “also freezing rain but not a lot for Little Rock but could but doubtful but prepare for outages”
Basically they have no idea and are covering their butts, I’m sure. If this were me and just two older kids, it would be easy. Throwing a 5 and 2 year old into the mix changes it. They can’t hang like the older two.

What a passive aggressive comment to make. Where else should I be going, aside from an informative weather thread with meteorological experts as well as people who have vast experience with harsh winter weather, to ask this?
I’m a Louisiana native who really isn’t good at cold weather.
I’ll tell you the same shite I tell my kids. Before you open your mouth, ask yourself is this necessary and/or kind? If neither, shut up.

Someone gave you bad info. My life has been simple. Pineville, Baton Rouge, Little Rock. Alexandria has and will never make the cut.

I haven’t lived in Pineville since 2005. I have lived in Arkansas for 8+ years. Please stop being annoying and leave the thread if this doesn’t impact you. The condescending nature of your posts is taking over a thread that needs to be informational at this point.

Yeah, I think we are staying. Reluctantly. I believe most of my neighbors have whole home generators so if need be, I’m sure we could go over there to thaw out.
I struggled with going to the beach bc it would be me+4 kids for 10 hours in the car (it’s the little ones that would be challenging), going there and honestly I became concerned about our ability to get back safely by Thursday—especially with the consideration of another winter storm rolling through.
There was no very clear answer for me.
Also important to note that I have two houses to care for as I’m in a lease until end of this month, so being near the property should something go down was also a consideration.
I’m sure I could be talked into leaving rn, I’m exhausted and fickle hearted about this situation. West Little Rock is in the most annoying precipice of snow/sleet/ice which has made this a hard decision.

Could we get a winter weather prep expert in here to compile a list of things to be sure you do before this sort of weather comes through?
Pipes and such seem obvious, but I know there’s a lot more to consider. I’d appreciate it and I’m surely plenty others will, too.

All my peeps in Little Rock are saying it’s gonna be mostly sleet (versus ice), which is correct according to forecasts. I’m going to make final call later or in morning.
My favorite beach retreat is $800 for 5 nights. Idk if I’m up for driving 10 hours to the beach alone with all 4, however.

And it’s the unpredictability of sleet versus ice that’s got my stomach in knots. My kids will be so mad if we leave and the power stays on and they miss a week of sledding with their friends.
I appreciate the advice here. I will need to make a decision by EOB today, I’ll be glued to this thread and will continue watching for updates.
