Problem with most of the roundabouts in the LP is they are a circle and most people like to drive in a straight line.

For people familiar with this area, is that overpass new or was that already there when they started this project?

It was always there even before the roundabout.

It's been there for decades.

IMO this would have been a better candidate for a single point interchange, but those cost money and there are NFL teams and children's museums in New Orleans to subsidize.

How about we get LA drivers to master the four way stop and blinking yellow lights before we tackle round a bouts?

They have two roundabouts off of I-12 near Hammond that opened up a few years ago and people just fly through it. I remember going through one and yielding before entering because a car was coming around. I didn't know if the car coming around was staying on or getting off, so I didn't want to chance. But the driver behind obviously didn't know how a roundabout works and started laying on their horn.

I once had my doubts about the ones put off the I-12 exit but it's made traffic much more tolerable in that area once they were completed. Truckers coming out of the Petro would block traffic as they would all tailgate each other coming out of the truck stop. Now it doesn't happen and traffic flows much better.

Still, with them being in place the past year, there's still one or two people that just don't get how they work.

They've had one in Ellick for years, but they call it a Traffic Circle.

Hammond had real growing pains with ours. Still get the occasional idiot that doesn’t grasp the concept that you don’t stop in the roundabout

To be fair the biggest help here is the fact that the trucks have to go through the roundabout at Club Delux and come back to turn into the Pilot. Biggest backup was when trucks would sit and block traffic southbound trying to turn into the truck stop.

I know that exact intersection and I used to hate that crap. The divider right there probably helps a lot.

Livingston had a hell of a time figuring out the ramp meters about 10 years ago.

Figured out? What? I still get behind dumbfricks on the regular who come to a complete stop at the ramp light when they're the first car in line.

Pray tell, who the frick is the first car being paced from? No one. The first car doesn't stop. The light turns green as soon as you cross it's path, doesn't matter if you're going 70mph or 5moh.
