As someone mentioned the outside lane is closed. Dumbasses it will work when construction is finished. Louisiana drivers and media is why we can have shite that works. Always bitching before it is finished. LA 42 bitching will start soon since construction is starting.

I agree with that,trust me i see it a lot.but part of me thinks DOTD likes to throw traffic circles at problem intersections just to claim "it's fixed" without much effort.i mean traffic circles aren't new...stop lights replaced them back in the day.

The issue is the people getting off the interstate. There is almost nonstop traffic going to and from Walker, so the cars trying to get into the roundabout don`t have the time to get into it with constant traffic coming their way.
They put the on interstate lane from Walker in the roundabout past the off interstate lane going to Walker which means two lanes of cars are coming at the same time or a little slower than the other cars, which leaves the traffic from BR at a standstill. The Yield signs are too far away from the off interstate lane in my opinion.
The roundabout in Hammond has had it`s issues. All one lane roundabouts work if used properly. The design in Walker is flawed. They could`ve easily just added a turn lane to the interstate instead of the roundabout and the issues would`ve been eliminated. Somebody wanted to get paid.

Traffic circles require more space for higher traffic intersections.
State gets grants to install traffic circles. They work much better and more efficiently than traffic lights.

Are they going to continue to use the old offramp for cars turning right off of the interstate? If so, the outer lane on the new "offramp" seems redundant.

Better get used to them in Livingston. 3 are coming on Juban Road north of I-12 to US-190.

Most roundabouts are great. This one is poorly designed. There is not enough separation between the southbound and eastbound entrances to the roundabout.
The unconventional lyout of the eastbound entrance causes lots of problems.

Personally, I think the roundabout in question should have been designed with a larger radius. The size vs the amount of traffic using the exit doesn't allow for traffic to move quickly enough within the circle. Granted, some of this issue is due to the idiots who can't understand it, but some of the issue is not.
I am a big believer in roundabouts which are designed correctly and in the proper locations. They are NOT a blanket solution everywhere though, which sometimes appears to be the thinking of some.

A roundabout at Juban and 190 will be a nightmare for those trying to go right on 190 from the interstate....

why they didn't start that project by expanding the 447 bridge to 4 lanes that crosses I-12 is beyond me.
The merging onto the 2-lane bridge causes congestion that backs up through the roundabout and backs all the way up onto the shoulder of I-12 during rush hour. This is a big part of the problem.

Yep - there are several roundabouts in LP already - all work great except this one...
1. It's too small for the flow of traffic.
2. You are forced into one lane to go eastbound on the interstate and then forced to change lanes to actually get on the interstate - which ISN'T how roundabouts are supposed to work
3. It is poorly lit
4. The indicators are in the wrong spots
5. The lanes aren't wide enough
6. The exits and entries have angles that are too tight
