The fatal crash occurred Tuesday afternoon when the 14-year-old, with two other juveniles as passengers, drove a GMC Arcadia at a high speed through a red light and struck a Ford pickup truck, the sheriff's office said. The Ford's driver, identified as 45-year-old Silvia Zavala, was dead at the scene when paramedics arrived, according to the sheriff's office.

The driver of a late-model Lincoln, also targeted in the egg throwing, allegedly brandished a semi-automatic handgun and chased after the GMC Arcadia at high speeds, according to Gonzalez. CNN affiliate KHOU reported that the driver of the Lincoln is cooperating with investigators, who are trying to determine why the underage teen had access to the SUV.

14 years old is more than old enough to know that is reckless and grossly negligent
Put him in jail for 25-35 years

Lincoln driver should have called the cops, instead of chasing the egg man (great beastie boy song, btw) at high speeds with a handgun.

Hmmmm. Sounds like this is the guy who should be charged with murder.
The kids were doing stupid pranks, but nobody got hurt...
Then this guy brandished a gun at the kids and started chasing them.
At that point the kids were legitimately in fear for their lives and quite justified driving at high speeds to get away from the homicidal maniac chasing them!

Do the parents of 14 year old get negligence charges?

I guess I missed the part where this wasn't illegal.
The guy wasn't doing anything wrong until the little shithead kids drove by and threw eggs at him. Should he have shown more restraint? Yeah. But let's not act like he's the one that caused this shite to happen. The kids did as soon as they cranked the car.

That's what I would argue if I was that kid's lawyer.

Important piece of information.
Were the teens in the SUV trying to outrun this nut job?

During the Christmas Holidays, we used to shoot bottle rockets at cars from some woods on the highway. One night a car we targeted turned on his flashing blue lights when we hit it. My buddy and I ran through the neighborhood to get away. We went through some back yards. I saw my friend come to an abrupt stop and fall backwards. Next thing I knew, I hit the clothesline and fell flat on my back. It kind of worked out well for us because we never saw the cop car, or the cops, again.
Another time five or six of us were throwing snowballs at cars from the same woods in the daytime, and a man turned around and came after us. I had recently had an ankle surgery, and was on crutches. Everyone else took off down an ally. I crawled under a parked pickup. The guy pulled up next to the truck, and told me to come out. He wanted to know my name, and who the other kids were. I told him my name but wouldn't tell him who they were. He got frustrated, told me he was going to turn my whole neighborhood in to the cops, got in his car, and drove away.
I was probably 13 or 14 when those things happened.
