The guy wasn't doing anything wrong until the little shithead kids drove by and threw eggs at him. Should he have shown more restraint? Yeah. But let's not act like he's the one that caused this shite to happen. The kids did as soon as they cranked the car.

Do you seriously think they thought throwing eggs would turn into someone chasing them, driver panicking and causing an accident?

They probably didn’t, as I wouldn’t have thought that at their age either. I tell you what I would have thought though, “if I get caught doing this, my dad will not just give me a spanking or a grounding. He is liable to beat my arse like a grown man and wreck all the shite that he’s ever given me, I will be put on fricking lockdown for months upon months.”

That was more than enough to keep me from doing anything like these piece of shite kids did.

I can if they didn't do everything they could to make sure their kids could not access their cars let alone drive off with it.
It is about impossible to control another human. Plus you act like kids won't steal their parents car or do other things that their parents tell them not too.

Do you think your average teenager goes around stealing his parents' car?

If you’re a halfway competent adult/parent it’s not impossible to control your child.

Theft, vandalism, assault, and murder does not equal going to a party and drinking while you’re in high school.

Eggs on a windshield is pretty dangerous. Most people would hit the wipers and any water sprayed on can create a white film. In short, no visibility while driving on a highway can be bad news.

On another note, the high speed chase is a terrible idea.

Sad all around and jail time is probably in the future of a few of these people.

You had a dad. I bet their dad is in prison or doesn’t know the kids.

Not saying that is a reasonable excuse but I think it makes a difference.

That in no way, shape, or form excuses their behavior.

The driver of a late-model Lincoln, also targeted in the egg throwing, allegedly brandished a semi-automatic handgun and chased after the GMC Arcadia at high speeds

Best part of the article. Wish he woulda caught him before killing that woman in the truck. POS kid

Unfortunately he probably escalated the situation by chasing the kids at "high speeds" and likely contributed to what ultimately happened in some degree.

Throwing eggs is not a felony, so I am not sure why the kid would get a murder charge from that. I am guessing the stealing of vehicle, driving under age and so on is why things escalated to murder. From what I understand murder chargers are applied when someone gets killed during the commission of a felony, which doesn't apply to misdemeanor vandalism.

The driver of the Lincoln should be in deep shite though. Chasing people at a high rate of speed while brandishing a weapon is obviously a felony and his actions escalated things.

The kids were doing stupid pranks, but nobody got hurt...
Then this guy brandished a gun at the kids and started chasing them.

Me and some friends were dumbasses in the early-1980s (and late-70s) and we threw eggs at cars from the roof of Ed's Maytag (now Roman's Greek/Lebanese) on Government Street near St. Landry and Acadia Streets

One guy got pissed and screeched his brakes and u-turned. Instead of laying low on the roof, we freaked and scaled the ladder (which was actually an antenna, and difficult to negotiate quickly - luckily no broken backs or necks). We scampered down St. Landry and dived over a fence into the yard of one of the guys, and his two collies. And we hid in the shed... hearts thumping like crazy.

The dude was screaming and he was searching, and if the dogs weren't there he'd have jumped the fence and found us. I say all that to say that part of me treads carefully, because we were such dumbasses, when I point fingers at kids doing pranks.

HOWEVER, at the point that I am in a 4,000 lb. vehicle going high speed, and then tossing out eggs... damn, I hope I would have declined to partake that at age 9-12.

Those teens are responsible for this. The dude who gave chase, may get charged... but I hope things go pretty lenient for him.

P.S. if your car was hit with an egg(s) Capital Heights neighborhood of B.R. between 1977 and 1985, the above is all fiction. Seriously.. I am full of shite.

You’re saying good Christian upbringing and moral teachings wouldn’t make a difference?

How do you know they didn't get that?

And what makes you think good Christian raised kids have never done anything wrong?

Besides having morals without Christ, I would say no.

And what Jesus do anyway; take the wheel?
