This thread is full of guys that will suck a cop's dick and thank him for his service, just like you.
I generally hate cops but you've got to know how to choose what's worth falling on your sword over, you will never win a battle with a cop in the field, just take the path of least resistance, i.e., not worth getting tased, beaten TF up, or shot over anything, turn it over to your lawyer and fight your battle in court

You do understand that profiling is an illegal act, correct? Wearing all black while being black is not a crime.
My GOD, out of all f*cking IGNORANT statements said in this string, this has to be at the very top.
To make the assumption that race had ANYTHING to with it is just plain f*cking ignorant.
In the video, the kid didn't even look black.
He was wearing the standard f*cking uniform of a home invader. He then sees a cop patrolling. He then ducks into someone's backyard instead of going to the front door and knocking like a normal f*cking human being.
That's not racial profiling. That's a cop doing HIS F*CKING JOB.
Is it your contention that the cop should have just ignored the situation and went along his merry way?
Surely, YOU CAN'T BE THAT F*CKING STUPID.

When it comes to cops and politics and people of color this board has a hive mentality.
There's maybe 1 out of every 10 posters in this thread saying the officer did nothing wrong in this instance
You could make the "hive mind" statement about some other threads, but this one is pretty much proof that the "back the blue hive mind" you're accusing tOT of having doesn't exist. Backing the officer is very much a minority opinion ITT

You do understand that profiling is an illegal act, correct? Wearing all black while being black is not a crime. Being in your girlfriends backyard while you wait for her to come to the door is not a crime. Using a shortcut through hedges is not a crime.
If your home was broken into and they killed your wife how would you like to find out that the criminal was seen in your hedges, in your backyard by the patrolman on duty...and he just said, oh well?

It's the cop's F*CKING JOB to be suspicious of suspicious looking characters ducking into backyards upon seeing the cop patrolling a neighborhood.
You mean when the kid went into the backyard of his ultimate destination. He didn't "duck" anywhere, he arrived where he was going. You can call the kid a "thug" repeatedly like you have, it doesn't make it true. You can ply us with your rape and murder fantasies over and over, that isn't true either.

Why is this law of society so foreign to so many of you young people? Have we failed to educate about how societies can set up laws and require all citizens to obey them?
Is this why so people are resisting arrest and suffering the consequences. You can’t just say, “frick you, I didn’t do nothing,” and expect a suspicious cop to just sheepishly walk away.

Saying someone is suspicious because they are wearing all black in the middle of the day is fricking ridiculous.
Once AGAIN, it's the f*cking totality of the situation. If someone is just walking down Fifth Avenue in New York wearing all black on a summer's day (even with a black hoodie), then he's not suspicious.
If he's wearing all black, then sees a cop patrolling the neighborhood, and then duck into someone's backyard, then YES, that is F*CKING SUSPICIOUS.
How many f*cking times did your parents drop you on your head before you were two? The over/under has to be at least 1,000.

we did as kids, all the lots on the street were several acres, we'd just cut through hedges

In fairness this board was like 90% "no question, kid deserved it" on the first four pages before it swung to like 80% bad policing since then
It's always interesting to ride the wave of the board opinion as it develops over a thread

Sometimes easy, sometimes hard to predict which way it will end up...

Nah. I steer clear of cops in my everyday life. It's pretty easy to do by following laws and not putting myself in sketchy situations.
In the limited exposure I've had with police officers, I was given a ticket for speeding on the interstate, complied with his requests and went on with my day.
By all means, try to be a tough guy in front of them though, we need all the entertainment we can get these days.

No, he doesn't. A cop doesn't have the right to enter the home just because.

FHP policy states: “The use of a CEW (conducted electrical weapon) is authorized and may be an appropriate response in the case of a sudden attack, or when ‘active resistance’ or greater is offered by a subject who is about to be taken into custody for any reason.”
So, the big takeaway here is that the kid was resisting, but it was passive so no taser should've been used. Was the kid annoying and disrespectful, probably. Any cop that would see that behavior as a threat probably shouldn't be a cop. It's crap like this that fuels the BLM movement.
