She went over to the enemy during a time of war and did propaganda for them.

He apparently has been dealing with dementia since 2018. That's probably why he disappeared so suddenly.

Dude owned around 2 million acres across 11 states

Wonder if his heirs keep it or sell it all

FYI, he also owned the largest private bison herd in the world at around 45K total

He bought the tv rights to The Shawshank Redemption and turned that movie into one of the most successful movies of all time.

I remember watching Braves games as a teenager (25 years ago) and he was always there and then he wasn't. I just assumed then that he had died

Had it not been for Ted Turner...the Chicago Cubs would have been the only MLB team I would have seen on TV on a regular basis. There's no telling how many classic movies I've become aware of because of him.

I’m sure it’s likely in some sort of trust where it can’t be altered or developed.
All that untouched land possibly being parceled up and sold would be a sad day for conservation.
He played a huge role in bison numbers growing in the country.
Only about 30k bison are owned by various governments, tribes, etc. The rest of the estimated 500k are privately owned and turner is a big reason why it’s gotten that high.
He also saved the famous ranch “Dances With Wolves” was primarily filmed on including the epic buffalo hunt. It was for sale and many assumed the 45k acres would be parceled up and turned into corn fields. Well it still has buffalo on it bc of Ted.

She traveled to North Vietnam, a nation we were actively at war with, and posed with soldiers in their army. Say what you want about Michael Moore and George Clooney, they never went to Iraq and posed with leaders of the insurgency in 2005.

Well, he just helped overpopulation problem he's been on about for years.

If he was actually right, we'd all be cannibals by now because of fossil fuels.

This dude propagandized me as a child. frick him.

quote:

He created the animated series Captain Planet and the Planeteers to educate children on environmental issues and often uses his platform to urge international cooperation on sustainability.

quote:

The media business is in the rear window for Ted Turner, the bold entrepreneur who in 1980 founded CNN, the nation’s first all-news cable network. Today, Turner is focused on developing ways to stop global warming, encourage energy conservation, and stem out-of-control population growth.

Turner recounted how he went from running his father’s billboard business to billionaire to high-profile humanitarian in a wide-ranging talk to students as a “View From The Top” speaker at Stanford GSB. He is chairman of the board of the United Nations Foundation, a public charity he founded in 1998 with a historic $1 billion pledge, the largest philanthropic gift of its time.

quote:

Despite the severity of the crisis, Turner remains an optimist, believing that humanity can overcome these challenges by working together, particularly through organizations like the UN Foundation

Just give money to my foundation and we can beat climate change! fricking piece of shite grifter.

While I don’t agree with a lot of his beliefs, that man lived an extraordinary life.
Always thankful for him for being a huge conservationist.
He owns over 2 million acres of land in the US, mostly in the Great Plains, and foothills of the Rockies with over 50k bison.
He’s played a major role in rewilding lots of areas out west.

Yup. My dad got to shoot an elk on Vermejo a few years before Turner bought it. I'm glad he bought the place and set it up as a reserve instead of it maybe getting slowly sold off in parcels as small ranchettes or some shite like that.

I guess he ascended to the big satellite in the sky or do you think he is in the fiery sauna of hell for all he has done.

Believe it or not his kids are pretty damn conservative. Worst thing Ted ever did was get involved with Jane. Dude was a legend.

Thats one pro to the ultra-weathly buying land. Large parcels stay together instead of ending up 5acre "homesteads"
