I have one I can walk to. I only eat there if I’m in a bind and have nothing for dinner. They always have a BOGO footlong.

The last time I got a BOGO coupon in the mail I was declined after they made my 2 sandwiches. I told them I didn't want them without the coupon and I walked out.

I have a 1st cousin married to a franchisee, one of his shops is just a mile away. Mom and I got sandwiches there a couple times when we 1st moved to the area. It's a good Subway for what those shops are.

With my GI conditions I am afraid to try to eat there any more. Can't handle the processing chemicals in the meats and breads along with inability to handle raw veggies. Probably about the only sandwich shop chain it would be worth a gamble would be a Jason's Deli.

Really? I hadn't heard that. Thanks for posting (not that I was going to Subway anyway).

I eat Subway a lot because it is my sole option at lunch unless I bring my own.

Ten years ago I could get a meal for under $10.

Now just a sandwich and drink is near $15 plus they do the tip bullshite.

You can get an actual lunch at a sit down restaurant for that!

Subway grew selling $4 foot longs then they went to $5 but it was still a decent value.

Now they cost three times as much and I can get much better food for the price.

Well, $5 footlongs are $16 now so that could be a reason

This is it. Subway used to be cheap and just okay. Good enough for the price.

Now it’s not cheap, and for the price, not okay.

If you were hungry and one was close by, you could justify eating it because you could get away with a $5 or $6 combo. Thats now well over twice the price and into the territory where quality needs to be better.

As we would say in the corporate world… it’s a poor value proposition.

This. I got caught in a pinch the other day and needed to get something fast and subway was the closest spot. I got a footlong turkey with a cup of water and no chips and it was almost $17. I did get extra turkey but god bless man. Definitely won't go back.

I went a few months back and was shocked at the price. $15.00 for a below average sandwich. I went to Chimes on Highland last month; Chicken Fried chicken lunch, with a salad, side of Mac and cheese, and bread was under $18.00, including tax and tip. It was excellent and so much food I could hardly finish.

Maybe don't charge $14 for a hastily made deli sandwich?

Jimmy John’s, Jersey Mike’s, Potbelly…

Why would anyone eat at subway if those are nearby?

If I want a sandwich, I go to Jersey Mikes.

I haven't eaten at a Subway in probably 10 years.

Sandwich franchises of all stripes are under a ton of pressure from inflation and the rise in labor costs. Add in the franchise fees and taxes and there’s not any margin left in the QSR sector.

Smaller towns like New Roads and Marksville have two Subways each. It’s just not sustainable as traffic declines and food and labor costs rise.

They will have to close stores in the short term. Revamp the menu in the medium and long term. Their new subs still lack quality. For the costs there are just so many chain and indie options that are better.

This would definitely be a problem. All of Subways cold cuts are actually just turkey chemically treated to alter their flavor and color. They have zero pork content. It’s been that way for years and it’s truly low grade meat.

Subway is gross. I'd rather eat gas station food.

The 2 near my were taken over by dot Indians who think you asking for $100 when you ask them for a few more olives or bell peppers. It was also $12 for a footlong.... just the sandwhich. I can get a shrimp po-boy for that price.

In places like New Roads there aren't alot of those other options. Our camp is right down the street from the standalone subway so I end up picking that up sometimes when I'm there and don't have groceries at the camp

If there were better options, I'd likely go elsewhere

Subway has some of the worst service and a continuously more mediocre product. The last time I went there, my sandwich smelled like someone rubbed it in their butt crack. I threw the entire thing in the trash and haven't been back.
