If I recall when they lost a bunch of franchises years ago, it was because corporate really screwed the franchisees.
They had no territorial protection. Subway would let one franchisee open up anywhere, could be next to an existing one and they wouldn’t care

Subway is one step above dog food. No reason for anyone to ever eat at a subway

This. I got caught in a pinch the other day and needed to get something fast and subway was the closest spot. I got a footlong turkey with a cup of water and no chips and it was almost $17. I did get extra turkey but god bless man. Definitely won't go back.

Subway has much lower overhead compared to other fast food places and each store can run on only 2-3 employees

I eat at subway often as it at least gives you an option of a healthier meal for fast food. I get the protein bowl with double protein.

I go back and forth on this. On the one hand, I hate how fat we are as a country and the drain it puts on our medical system from a financial perspective. On the other hand, I hate the government and the less they tell us what to do, the better. In a perfect world, people would take some ownership and make better food choices but we all know how that'll go.
TLDR: It's fricked either way.

Please people. As someone who knows all about franchising from every angle, don’t buy a franchise. At least not a franchise that is subject to inflationary and labor pressures in a market segment that relies on discretionary spending.

I hated subway when they went to their new menu and I saw the prices. Someone told me their app was the way to go. I don’t eat it often but I can open the app, select my go to as it saves order history, type in coupon code, type in my card cvv, and pick it up in 10 mins. Its really hard to beat that when I want something quick and somewhat decent.

Their food isn't good. When footlongs were $5, it was worth it if I was hungry and had few options. At $12 it isn't worth the price.

The problem is prices aren’t consistent. Get that same thing from two separate stores and you will pay two different prices.

Subway lost me when it came out that they were putting yoga mat chemical in their bread and using expired meats. Oh, also that whole covering up for a pedophile that was the national spokesperson for over a decade.
