Thanks. Fortunately all the people are gone. It's just stuff at this point.

Just found out my FIL’s house is destroyed. Have no idea about mine or my father’s house.

These weather people are all over the place.
How does the wind speed correspond to the radar maps? are the red and yellow areas the highest wind areas or just the highest rain areas? are the green areas lower wind or just lower rain?

Geeez. WVUE, a major broadcaster in the area, is still trying to get it done in a darkened newsroom with iPads and iPhones.

Anyone got any scoop on Slidell? My parents place is in New Crossgates near St Luke’s church and my grandparents live near Robert road in the neighborhood behind the Neighborhood Walmart.
Both evacuated, but Slidell appears to getting rocked and they are worried sick.

So far tonight, the highest winds have been associated with the areas with the highest KDR using Specific Differential Phase tool on your radar. This area represents the actual heaviest rain in a tropical event, which bring the winds aloft down.

Gauge just updated with 11pm numbers. Large surge right now. 6.25’ which is 3rd highest on record.
2012 Hurricane Isaac 8.2’
2016 flood was 8.6’
Will be interesting to see the 12am update to see if it is still going up. We have a camp in Terry Harbor off the Tickfaw.. expecting heavy damage.

It's at 85mph but 30 miles east of it and I'm seriously on edge. I can hear the gusts and jump at every noise in the house worrying that it's a tree coming down on me. How does anyone blow off even a Cat 1 hurricane?

When I was a kid my grandfather used to tell me that once hurricane winds blew so hard they picked up his dad and carried him 40 yards. As kids we just didnt believe him.
172 mph winds could probably carry you a football field.
