it only seems 50-50 because of media and local papers. Problem for people living in BR is most of BR isn't voting on this... only people who reside in St. George limits. Landslide win. Welcome to St. George.

So tell me where I'm wrong. The budget proposed has already shown to be largely inaccurate.
By whom? Richardson. The man who served for the last 30 years on the State Revenue Estimating Conference, and has had to revise his numbers year after year?
By Richard Lipsey? The guy who buys politicians like candy, who claims to be a Republican, but supports SWB and JBE?

Yes, I might have kept the article in the advocate. EBRP is looking at a Drainage improvement tax they are going to sell to the public.
One thing we all know taxes are going up.
Do you want the taxes spent in your area to improve your life or on liquor stores to carry veggies along with fruits in NBR?

Today, SWB tried "reaching out" via NextDoor to the wypipo of my St George neighborhood and wants us to be good community members if they promise to pick up our garbage on time. You can't make this shite up.

You can't just hop into any ole neighborhood on Nextdoor. It'a a motherfricker. I bought a house in a new lil hood in Gonzales and it took finally getting a real live person from Next Door to approve my address b/c It wasn't on the Google Maps yet. You have to prove you live there and shite too.

Bitch can’t get stuff done that is written up in contract and has consequences for failure. She think we believe she can or will do a goddamn thing she says?

Wow. "Hey, we know we're fricking this whole thing up from top to bottom right now, but if you don't incorporate, we'll at least do one thing we're already supposed to be doing."

It is a shame if the contract was followed it says how to handle missed service, fines, and age of trucks. No one follows it.
As far as garbage as a new City they can piggy back off the existing contract or go out a negotiate with other companies. Republic does not want to lose fees from 80 to 90 thousand cans. Other companies know the price and level of service. They know they have to sharpen that pen. If you play it right consumers could get a slightly better rate.

I'm sure it's been asked, but why are people from out-of-state (not to mention outside of BR) arguing against (or for) SG ??

Money talks.
Loss of money along with loss power makes people scream.

I'm for StG and currently don't live in the BR area (on work assignment for at least another 6 months). My home office is in EBR so this vote depends if I live in the parish when I go back or buy in Prairieville.

Landslide win. Welcome to St. George.
With all of the scare tactics used by the opponents, it only confirms the likelihood that there's a massimve imbalance in the amount of taxes are paid versus services received in the unincorporated area.
Add in the bonus potential of getting an ISD (even a minute, remote chance), and it's a slam dunk.

It seems that the budget numbers should not be too hard to figure out. Just look at Central's population and budget and then expand that to a city the size of the proposed St. George and then see what you have.
I am sure the pro people are low balling it and the anti people hi-balling(?) it.

No they aren’t too hard to figure out.
Central 2018 est. population 28,864 (33% of SG)
Budget 2018/2019
Revenues $8,304,873.11
Expenses $6,771,078.60
Central is banking a nice surplus. They have over 21 million dollars in reserve.
SG population approximately 86,316
Estimated revenues per SG $58,399,00
Estimated expenses per SG $33,911.00
EST. Surplus $24,488.00
Jim Richardson says SG will on get $45,800,000 in revenues.
Richardson says SG would have 51 million in expenditures.
Compare SG with Central. SG has three times more people than Central, over five times more revenue (Richardson’s numbers), so why would they have eight times more expenses(Richardson’s numbers)? It doesn’t add up.
