quote:I think he took the Central budget, multiplied by 3 and then added instead of subtracted.
Like I said, it doesn’t add up.
Should be a $6m surplus but that wouldn't' fit the narrative.

Actually the population is growing in the areas you speak of.

well for one thing, Richardson's study used pension numbers that far exceed all calculations by the city and retirement group. He calculated $8.9mill per year. At 15 year payout that is $133M. The city has set all unfunded liabilities at $100M.
Richardson at the meeting at the library last Thursday stated that in both city comparators (by population and by geography) he used the present form of government as his base, failing to do any comparisons to cities utilizing the privatization model that has been suggested by St. George since the first petition effort. Privatizing city services will be much less costly than a bloated civil-service model of city government.

I am still registered to vote in EBR as I have not yet finalized my move out of state, so I was able to vote early. I voted NO to St. George, as the problems afflicting the Baton Rouge Metropolitan Area are better solved by working together than by cutting and running. I won't be there to see it but would love for Baton Rouge to make something better of itself.

Richardson help sell JBE’s last tax increase, The 466 million dollar tax increase that helped produce the 500 million dollar surplus. Thankfully he “retired” before the next session.

You won't be here to deal with the consequences but you voted anyway? Either you are a troll or a complete d!khead.
Probably both.

Nice to know that before you cut and ran. Good luck.

I probably did as much work as he did when I googled Central on Wikipedia and then found their website and their operating budget.
He used the EBR budget with all its largesse instead of similar cities with limited govt.
Lazy

I'm also pretty sure he cherry picked cities that fit his model expectations. The study was also paid for by Michael Beychok through OneBTR. He also managed SWB's campaign

So we should keep the status quo but expect different results?

Jim Richardson is a sham forecaster. The guy has been wrong about so much that he gets credit for it. He isn’t independent and unbiased when forecasting. Figure out who paid him and then it will make sense to you.

If you enjoyed your time in Louisiana and want to see it do well. That should of been a Yes to St. George.

Doesn’t he work for GumboPac too?
Look at what Central did and the money they have in reserves, look at the SG tax base, and it’s easy to see SG will have a strong base.
Now if you try and scare folks by telling them their sewer will get cut off, they will lose sheriff protection, and taxes are going to go up to pay city services; you really have to be in trouble to lie like that.

Bingo.
For this level of scare tactics, they have to know there is no possible way to win via facts and that support for the incorporation is very strong.
Otherwise there is no reason to go with embarrassingly wrong scare tactics.

I just can't even imagine how stupid someone must be to believe that they'll all of a sudden go without a sewer or police as if that has not been thought out.
Unfortunately, there are a bunch of retards out there who will read the bullshite flyers and believe every word because they completely lack critical thinking skills.
The few Anti-SG signs I'm seeing are all in the yards of people who are either SJWs or dumb old fricks who think The Advocate is an unbiased source.

If the city of St. George happens then there is no longer a need for a Metro Council or Parish President/Mayor of Baton Rouge. It should revert to a East Baton Rouge Parish Council and a separate City Council over the City of Baton Rouge.

Any idea what the average household income is in the proposed city?
