It will be at least 5 years before St. George has an ISD established and a year or two of kinks worked out.

People have been leaving Zachary in droves with the three plant closures. Probably not a good investment to buy property there now with lack of industry and taxes coming in substantially reduced to the school system.

EBR parish population has declined the past few years and Louisiana is only one of a handful of a states to lose population last year and it did for 2 years in a row. Over 10,000 people from Louisiana moved to TX alone.

That's kind of sad when you stop and think about it. Oh well, I hope they can all find love in Texas.

Don't forget the "No new taxes No St. George" nonsense. Baton Rouge has raised people's taxes 13 out of the last 15 years and you have a-clowns putting this sign up in their yards. That is a special class of idiot.

Baton Rouge has more tax increases on the horizon. Those people need to be sterilized for being so fricking stupid.

Why do you think people who have not moved away so far will suddenly decide they have to get out?

Because all hope of a decent public school system is effectively gone. I will almost certainly be moving to Prairieville if it does not pass. I still might if it does due to the expected delays, but it failing would be the nail in the coffin for me.

STFU real quick after this lol. Good work.

The plan to improve roads and infrastructure was voted on and passed last year. You have never heard of MovEBR? Where have you been?

Law enforcement will mainly be through the sheriff who provides services now. SG will have a token PD, but will rely on the sheriff just as they do now. The intention though is not for a standstill plan, but to pony up additional dollars to increase protection.

The parish picks up garbage. We pay a monthly fee for that. That service won’t change.

Water is NOT provided by the government now. Parish Water Works is a private company. You pay them every month. That won’t change.

Sewer is another parish service. You pay a fee for that too. That’s not changing.

You really don’t understand how things work do you?

You think BR is done with adding a new tax to your life? We’re going to be taxed regardless. I’d rather it go to St. George than Broome’s slush fund.

That’s why these “No New Taxes, No St. George” people are so fricking stupid.

I wasn't the one that said new taxes are on the horizon, BUT knowing how taxes were raised over a dozen times in 15 years, I'm just going to go ahead and assume so.

ETA: If you don't believe taxes will rise, I've got some beachfront property in Kansas for cheap. Interested?

I’m asking a question. You stated new taxes. What new taxes or are you just speculating?

The stupid speculation goes on both sides of this issue not just the opponents side. Proponents make the same comments with the narrative being whatever is feel good.

I don’t care one way or the other. To be honest I have properties on either side of the wall.

The new taxes could just as easily apply to St George as to Baton Rouge. No one on here can definitively say taxes won’t be raised in St George if it is approved.

So I’ll give you my speculation. If St George is approved taxes will be raised on both sides. That’s my opinion.

I think taxes will probably rise in both...I'd rather my taxes rise in StG instead of BR.
