The thing is, I suspect more than anything, that she's sort of an odd lone unicorn in the Louisiana Legislature (young white woman, "highly educated", sjw type lefty), such that she's not really under anyone's wing over there, so to speak, to guide her into not heading down a path like this.

Kind of like you, I'm not even really saying that like it's a BAD thing for her politically, at least with regard to her particular sort of peculiar district.

This is really what happened. Every generation has their batch of uber liberal loons. It’s just now they have multiple platforms, and they are louder than ever. When it comes to their social issues, I really don’t care. You want to lop your dick off? Be my guess. You have a “preferred pronoun?” Fine. A study of the last 100 years shows that right wing movements have almost always been reactions to left wing movements. A hundred years ago, and until the 1980's, Marxism and Communism were the darlings of western intellectual circles. When the reds started to commit crimes against propertied interests, or committed state crimes of confiscation, the right reacted with violence, and the result was usually fascism. I don't mean this as an indictment of the left as instigators. It is just wired into the left to force change and the right to resist change. Each can be a virtue or a flaw. This was true of Hitler, who would never have risen had the reds not been in the streets. Pinochet in Chile, Franco in Spain; the list goes on.

We are reaching a tipping point at which the 50% who pay no taxes can confiscate whatever they want. When it happens the right will arise. No matter which side wins the result will likely be a one party state and dictatorship. This is what awaits us unless we can back up from the precipice of hatred.
