Well since the speed limit went to 70 a few months ago, you didn't do too bad. Prior to the increase, Trooper Thomas would have gotcha by the time you got to 61. He was ALWAYS posted up on that elevated stretch. frick him.

Yes I know...I drive it everyday and I see him everyday...frick him

And state police are still out there writing tickets,

they weren't in their spots yesterday or this morning...I usually see 3 or 4 both ways of my commute and I didn't see one yesterday or this morning.

ETA: This issue is not the tickets being written but the amount of overtime charged.

Yes, but it should be about the program altogether. Hopefully this is just the start.

The LACE program is a big cash cow for the Acadia Parish DA. No chance in hell that you could get your ticket off your record anyway you would pay the court cost. Everyone has their hand in the ticket revenue pot: DA, court systems, police dept., etc.

The trooper parked in his customary spot on La 16 in Port Vincent this morning didn't get the memo or he doesn't know he is in Livingston Parish.

I flip that fat fricker off every time I see him. frick those piles of shits. Oh, you're in college and the br court fricked up by saying you didn't pay your ticket when you did so in reality your license was not suspended and you have all the paperwork to back it up?

That'll be $750 payable to the port Vincent clerk of court and your driving under suspension ticket will still be upheld. Thanks. Have a nice day.

Edit- just drove down 16, he was there. Pulled out and followed me to the other edge of the town limit to park at the other 45 to 35 spot. I think he's onto me

I watched it last night

That mother fricker they were following made $240,000 the past two years! I hope they lock him in jail and throw away the key. That is absolutely insane and disgusting on so many levels.

I have a great idea - they should take all these troopers who falsified their time while in the LACE program and make them pace all day up and down Independence Blvd. in front of State Police HQ In lace panties !
And no, I wouldn’t go watch but there would be a lot of strange people that would !

No they should make an example out them.

Arrest and charge them with payroll fraud and malfeasance in office and take their pensions away.

Reeves said it was unacceptable to be on duty and at your residence for all LSP employees.

Part of me wonders how much and acceptable this practice has gone on for years. After all, they presumably all live within their jurisdictions.

All these LE departments work way too much overtime.

You are either wearing them out which could lead to a mistake, or there is rampant cheating or both.

Hire enough cops, pay them well and cut out all the OT, second jobs, etc.

Colored me shocked. It's not that much of a surprise that when given free reign with no checks, an employee will line his or her pockets. It's not only an issue to this agency, it goes with any profession.

I can't believe the top three highest paid police where involved. One made $140,000 in over time a year and no one caught it.

I also didn't know it was common for non-officer troopers to make $100k a year.

Some are the highest paid employees in the state.

WVUE was staking these guys out for a month. It was just insane watching that. The worst is, parishes themselves, who cannot afford to properly support the public defender program, are paying into and not getting the time paid for. So literally this is causing problems that trickle down to other parts of the DAs office of these parishes.

Heads should roll. If you or I steal $100 we are going to jail, these guys steal thousands from taxpayers and are on paid leave.

The evidence is there why are these troopers (criminals) not locked up! Any other state employee would be charged and booked by now.

They really need to disband the state police and start over.
When your highest law enforcement dept is full of crooks why have them?

Just like BRPD abusing the grant money they get for drunk driving checkpoints, the LSP is abusing the money they are getting from parishes.

It doesn't cost them a thing and they feel like they are providing the service contracted for so in return they rob the taxpayer blind.

It's sad a local TV station has to do the work of LSP supervisors. Anybody submitting weekly 80 hr OT timesheets should be brought in for questioning.

I think it's a waste to pay anyone $200,000/yr to write citations all day.
Also many of these guys had one or no tickets per shift.

Part 2 aired last night

Apparently the 4 troopers involved in the investigation were aware they were being investigated by Lee Zurik and still cut shifts in half in many cases.

They filmed Daryl Thomas for 12 days. He ended his shift early and/or started late every single one of those days. Dude made $240k/year and no DA or LSP supervisor thought to question it?

That tells me it's a systematic problem.

If so, they need to gut leadership out of LSP, and appoint civilian leadership at every level.

I was visiting The River Parishes about a month ago and along the river in st James and St John the speed limit is 45. I hit the StCharles area and it was 35. I was stopped by a State Trooper as part of the LACE program and he said I was doing 51 in the 35. He also said he “must” write the ticket according to the local agreement/LACE.

Oh well......doodoocacapeepee!

I doubt you'll be able to get up fast enough to get into the negative gas mileage though.
