When did the State Police turn into such a pile of shite agency? It wasn't long ago that they were one of the areas of La government that people thought were above board and did a good job.

They only looked good in comparison to local police departments.

So was this program offering personal incentive for officers to write more tickets? If that is the case, whoever approved this idea should be fired immediately and possible subject to a public stoning

No. They were just overtime details. The details are legal but looks like a few of the troopers were claiming hours on their time sheets they didn't work.

This pisses me off two-fold. One, it's fraudulent with respect to time worked. Two, it's highly likely that those tickets were bogus if they were written in a quarter of the time it usually takes to catch that many speeders.

Fighting a speeding ticket is one of the biggest rackets in this country. The whole concept is based around the fact that the ticket fine is cheaper than fighting the ticket, so 99% of people simply pay it and move on.

From the St. Charles Herald article in 2013:

quote:

"Say the District Attorney’s Office pays $20,000 to our officers per month to write tickets in the parish, they are going to get about $200,000 back," she said.

That concept should chap the arse of every person on this board.

True but how else do you plan on paying for Indigent Defender Board and Victim Assistance Prgrams?

Its just become another frick you in a long line of them to tax paying citizens. These assholes know to only pull over decent looking cars and set up in areas with $. BRPD has set up in the parking lot across from the Crescent near LSU 4-5x over the past two weeks, clearly to target people heading early in the morning to U-High and LSU.

A guy on my fantasy league is a trooper and explained the ticket overtime to me a while back over a beer.

The short answer is that he could literally write 6 hours worth of tickets in 1 hour of actual work. Each hour is covered by a certain number of tickets so he would go hard for an hour and be done for the day.

I get why someone would work that. Heck, i wish i could get OT like that.

Edmonson making that bullshite crooked deal with JBE for the State Troopers association endorsement was a watershed moment to me and let me know that there was a deep corrupt rot in the State Police.

They are terrible in northern Lousiana.

I've seen them hiding out on some really really rural roads.
Makes you wonder they don't have better shite to focus on

Hopefully this is just 3 dumbasses being dumbasses.

In every organization you are always gonna have some dumbasses.

Hopefully they prosecute the shite out of them and set an example.

I mean, it's 100% fraudulent, so your fantasy league pal is stealing from tax payers.

I mean if they’re getting paid for x for x number of tickets, its not necessarily fraud.

No fricking way it's this isolated. This kind of scheme is rampant. These people don't keep this shite to themselves, and the DAs are fully aware of it too.

It's profitable, so they all turn a blind eye.
