k. Each hour is covered by a certain number of tickets so he would go hard for an hour and be done for the day.

So that explains why I see so many Troopers sitting on the side of the road or 5-6 of them bunches up in the median just shooting the shite not radaring or pulling over tbose oversized fricking dump trucks that speed and hog the fricking road.

Not necessarily. Typically when they are in groups like that it is the units looking for drug traffickers.

Beloved in Jeanerette because his office writes tickets outside of the city along Hwy 90. It still blows my mind that a city marshal even has that authority.

I thought they only wrote tickets because they were concerned about safety?

That's what the sheriffs always tell us.

I mean if they’re getting paid for x for x number of tickets, its not necessarily fraud.

They are getting paid to "monitor public safety" by issuing tickets to blatant violators. So if they write tickets for 1 1/2 hours, then go home, how does the public benefit from their presence, for the 6 1/2 hours they got paid for being at home?

It's not like anyone in Jeanerette could afford to pay for a ticket

If the DA's office is okay with it, which is who ultimately pays the OT, why should it matter?

How do u know every DA is okay with it? It matters because the DA is paying for a certain amount of hours. They are paying for ticket writing AND the officer's presence for the 6, 8 or 10 hours. And I'm sure the police department has policies governing the LACE program.

DAs have a tad of blame here as well. They use this money to fund their offices just as they jump at the chance to reduce a ticket and put someone in diversion so they can keep all the money. This deal is about to blow up as well. Too many agencies get revenue from tickets and with diversion they're getting screwed so they're bucking up.

Troopers make money working overtime. Local agencies make money from the fines. The local DAs offer diversion. A lot of drivers accept diversion to keep the ticket off their record. As a result, the DAs get to keep all of the money in their office instead of spreading it around.

The worse part about this is a news agency that has been investigating this for a number of years had to uncover this.

Auditors and supervisors should be reprimanded/dismissed. If $240k doesn't raise red flags + so many padded hours. Who's guarding the hen house?

Ultimately it is taxpayers paying, correct?

Hopefully this is just 3 dumbasses being dumbasses.

In every organization you are always gonna have some dumbasses.

Hopefully they prosecute the shite out of them and set an example.

Are you not opposed to the whole program here? Speed limits in many areas are tuned to maximize ticket profits rather than safety. Likewise, fines are tuned to maximize profits rather than to discourage speeding.

Cops shooting radar all day is not "protecting and serving", it is protecting revenues and self-serving.

True but how else do you plan on paying for Indigent Defender Board and Victim Assistance Prgrams?

Those programs should get 100% of the civil asset forfeiture until we can get rid of that shite forever.

Edmonson was dirty as a rat. I don’t know anything about his antics in the agency itself, but I’ve personally seen him frequent an establishment I worked at with male friends (possibly troopers, I don’t know) and request a low-key table and drink/dine with OBVIOUS coke whores. I know a coke whore when I see one and these were coke whores. Not a good look for the states top cop. He’s dirty, at the very least in his personal life.

Several years ago I was on airline doing the speed limit. I missed the change to 45 mph and was in the right lane. A truck blew by me doing at least 65 in the left lane. All of a sudden I see the blue lights pull out behind me. Of course I figure he was after the guy that was hauling arse. Nope, when he got out of his unit I knew I was getting a ticket regardless. Asked a trooper I knew about it it. He told me they get an 8 hour shift to write 20 tickets. The faster the better and go home. I was the easier mark so he took me instead of chasing the faster car. No sympathy from me on this one

Where is Mr. Jeff Landry on this? He needs to launch a statewide review of all law enforcement agencies regarding this practice.

An effective media can still play an important role, especially when our government is a bunch of money hungry thieves.

By the way, LACE has been around for decades. A trooper told me about it in the early 90s, and it was probably around before that.
