Want to bet she was raised in travel ball and her parents took out a third mortgage so she could?

this part needs to be written into the rule as to interpretation what's a fake attempt and what's a real attempt. That is the problem.

fricking this

Fake arse plays to third just to steal on out cheaply need to be penalized ideally, not called most likely

I looked up Max Preps for this team. There are 4 Fontenot girls on the roster. Are they all related to the Mike?

And the head coach is a woman

She’s not even looking at 3rd. Staring dead at the hitter until the throw hits her and then looks towards 3rd.

Does the catcher have a duty to not intentionally spike someone in the head with the ball?

Oh lord. Good call pride. “Barstool” has determined and spent more time than me researching this.

If it was deemed intentional (and it appears to be) not only would I have tossed the player and the coach but also stopped the game. I’d let the LhSAA review the incident and decide whether or not that team gets to continue in the playoffs

I mean when I was 13 I was attacked by a 23 year old after a game and it worked out really really bad for him. I turned out pretty good.

All sports rules aside, has the administration of this school taken any action against this student? The matter should be judged by the standards that apply to student conduct at a school event first and the procedures that govern softball as a distant second. I would be more concerned about an institution that fails to act in this context than the fact that one lone rogue actor fell so far below the standard of acceptable behavior.

This is now a chicken shite thing being taught in rec league and tournaments for 12 yr olds. I’ve seen this happen 3 times in the last month. If a runner is on third, the catcher smokes the batter in the helmet hoping the umpire isn’t paying attention. Then the coach can bitch that the batter was moving or stepping out so the batter can be called out. This is the newest episode of stupid shite being taught in rec league and travel ball. People are insufferable.

My son is a catcher and if he ever pulled this stunt then I would ensure his baseball career is over at that point.

She basically celebrated with her coach as she got to the dugout. If she had any compassion she would have checked on the batter she assaulted.

Well, let’s get the coaches name out there. It has obviously been taught that if there is a runner on 3rd and the batter steps out, the catcher throws the ball at the batter intentionally.

Yeah I laugh at that. I saw a comment say she’s one of the “best catchers in the state” yet she’s going to LSUA….. She might be good but all the good colleges are staying away from her for a reason

Going juco first is becoming way more of a better option. It’s a new world out there w recruiting in that middle tier.
