So does the catcher kunt think that because other girl is wearing a helmet she's wearing a helmet she can just launch a ball at her head? They should arrest her arse

Looked like it was intentionally done to get an interference call and an automatic out to me.

It is the umpires judgement and that umpire used poor judgement.
The batter did not interfere while stepping out. The batter stepped out THEN the catcher moved to purposely throw.the ball at the catcher in a situation where there was no play at third.
When you look closely the catcher actually throws the ball almost toward the dugout.

The softball is at its peak velocity the closer it is to the release from the hand
So as you state she was only mere feet away. So that softball was pretty much at peak velocity, about 60mph likely as it hit her in the ear hole

She got hit at damn near point blank range by an overhanded throw...how do football players get concussions when they're wearing helmets? It's debatable if the girl should have been arrested tbh
