It’s BS for sure but some coaches are now teaching their catchers to take note of right handed batters stepping out of the box with a runner at third. If the batter vacates the box and the catcher attempts a throw to third but the ball strikes the batter, it results in a dead ball out.

That email perfectly sums up what should have happened.. the umpire has discretion to call out blatantly unsportsmanlike conduct.

any info on what was done about the catcher? - seems to me the ump would have immediately tossed him out of the game as a minimum, and probably should have called a cop.
