What cruise company did you float with?

Got my free cruise on a MEU, got to spend time in cyprus, israel, spain, oman, djibouti, and UAE. All cool in their own way, will still never spend time on a boat again.

With all due respect, I never understood why anyone who goes on "vacation " would want to do anything "grueling." Doing shite like that is the last thing on my mind.

You will be old if you’re lucky. Just enjoy the food and scenery. Im not knocking you. Just saying be glad you can afford a cruise.

Which ship? We just did Ncl Encore May 11 and it was a great time. Found a great bar on deck 8 that was never too crowded.

I dislike cruises as much as the average OTer (maybe not quite as much but you get the point). Having said that, a cruise ship is an amazing way to get an affordable packaged Alaska panhandle tour. I can stare at the scenery on the shore from the ship for hours on end in a trance.

Sincere thank you for your service

This.
I’m trying to get my wife onboard with us flying to Vancouver and cruising up to Alaska.

So the colords don't take over Alaska cruises because they don't like cold weather ?

So I spent the last 6 years travelling back and forth to Alaska specifically Anchorage for work. I stayed in the downtown Marriott in Anchorage for a couple weeks at a time every month and let me tell you travelling there in the summer is a monumental pain in the arse because of tourists but mostly because of the cruise tourists. The Marriott is a stop off for a night for a lot of the cruise lines then they bus them down to Seward to catch the boat. I can tell you the general demographic that take that cruise are not happy people. Most are 65-70+ and generally pissed off about everything. They bitch at everyone. Miserable wading through that mass when I stayed there in the summer. I dreaded it every year.
If you are going to travel to Alaska, fly up and tour the state by vehicle, hike the parks and fish. I got my fill of the state but if I ever decide to go back for leisure that's how I will do it again. It definitely wont be a cruise.

I don’t ever wish to go on a cruise. Some people love it. It never interested me
I've been on one several years ago when the wife won a 5 day cruise for 2 down to the Yucatan Peninsula. It did not include the drink package or any excursions. We had an outer cabin about 3 stories above the water line, although small, it was comfortable and adequate.
We did purchase the drink package, which was WAY cheaper than just buying individual drinks added to the final bill and took a couple shore tours. The ship was beautiful and the food was very good, and plentiful.
My wife loved it. It just isn't my idea of a great time and when it was over, I was done with them for good.

You went on a trashy cruise leaving from the gulf coast.

people who annoy you were on a cruise to Alaska?

I was on the Eurodam last week and 100% agree with your comments about the Lido. I gave it the nickname "The Hog Trough". Wore LSU gear everyday and was surprised at how many Geaux Tigers I got.

We drove the Denali Highway (134mile dirt road) one time in the early fall before the snows hit. Unbelieavbley beautiful.
I think Alaska is stunning, once you get outside of the cities.

Which ship? I'm heading on one in August.

I wouldn't have guessed this for a Alaskan cruise.
Same here. An Alaskan Cruise is on my list of things to do.

I have been on several cruises and one of them was an Alaskan cruise. It stood out as completely different and awe inspiring, mainly because of the scenery. I get people not liking cruises but it is hard for me to imagine someone not being able to enjoy an Alaskan one. It was like living in a dream for 7 days.

This is why I don't do cruises overall. It's not my scene by a long shot.
That said the scenery on the Alaska route is amazing and there is a ferry service with overnight cabins for a fraction of the price. You get left alone to read your book, have a beer, watch the whales and mountains, etc... It's amazing.
