I took the two shingrix injections. Honestly, both of them kicked my arse. Felt pretty rough for a couple of days. I have also seen close family members suffer from shingles…….I do it again rather than get shingles.

I was thinking about it a couple years ago, then after covid and the shitshow from big-pharma's clotshots any remaining trust I had in them evaporated and now I won't even consider the shingles vax

No out of pocket for shingles vax.

No side effects on either shot besides arm soreness.

My arm was kinda sore after the second shot. Shingles is terrible to have I hear. If you are old enough to get vaccine you have already survived enough vaccines already so would get it

One of the potential side effects of many of the above is the chance to contract GBS and I'd not wish that on anyone.

My understanding is the risk of getting GBS from the flu, pneumonia or COVID are equal to or greater than the odds of getting it from a vaccine.

Guillain-Barre syndrome can affect all age groups, but your risk increases as you age. It's also slightly more common in males than females.

Guillain-Barre syndrome may be triggered by:

My stepson came down with GBS when he was attending LSU at age 20. His symptoms first showed up in late January of 05 and it was fast acting. By mid February he could no longer walk and a couple weeks later he could not use his arms.

Luckily it never got to the point he was on a respirator and did remain at home under our care. I had to wipe his arse when he crapped, bathe him, feed him, take him to see the many doctors and treatments required to overcome this thing.

By August he was once again walking, but more like a newborn calf as he was very unsteady on his legs.

Luckily for him, I was able to do these things that were physically demanding when I was only 52 at the time and the same year Katrina hit and put 4 1/2 feet of water in the house.

If I were to come down with this, I'd be hospitalized more than likely since nobody here can offer the care I would likely need. So, I don't take the chance.

I don't wish GBS on anyone and I understand your hesitancy.

I had shingles in 2014. Itched and burned like crazy for weeks and left a scar. I asked our APRN at work about the vax and she said no because I already had shingles.

I took the 2 shot Shangrix vaccine series about 3 years ago. I had very little reaction to either shot. I've seen the pain and missery my brother and uncle went through when they had shingles. I also encountered one of my high school teachers who had such a bad case of shingles that it affected nerves in his legs so bad he was using a walker and having to go to physical therapy to recover his ability to walk again without a rolling walker! He did fully regain control and unassisted walking again, but it took a while!

I didn't want to risk the misery my relatives and teacher went through. I have no regrets taking the vaccine.

I got shingles. It was all up in my face and eye. It sucked. It sucked for a couple weeks. Had I know that, without the shingles vaccine, I 100% would get shingles but with the shingles vaccine I 100% would not get it I probably would have gotten the vaccine.

Hopefully that’s helpful in your decision making process.

For reference I am someone who doesn’t get flu vaccines and only goes to the doctor if something serious is physically broken in my body.

Got 2 doses of Shingrex last fall. No problems.
My wife was groggy for a day after the 2nd dose.
My older sister had a bout of shingles and she was miserable.

Before Covid yes. Now, a definite No. They are adding stuff to the Flu and the pneumonia shots, so I wouldn't trust any vaccine now.

You likely got the old one-shot Zostravax, which was not nearly as effective as the new two-shot Shingrix.

CDC says: "A shingles vaccine called zoster vaccine live (Zostavax) is no longer available for use in the United States, as of November 18, 2020. If you had Zostavax in the past, you should still get Shingrix."

Can’t wait for the play by play when you get shingles. The stories you tell will be pretty awesome.

I got it and had no reactions.

When I got chickenpox as a child it was a very light case, and the doctor mentioned that I'd be in a higher risk of developing Shingles as an adult.

I took both of them, no issues.

My mom and my cousin both had shingles and the lingering effects (for over a decade now).

I want no part of that.

Is it safe? I don't know.

No, I didn't get the covid jab.
