With a whole lot of stabs in reaching 79 years, I'm reasonably sure there had to have been improvements in the sharpness of the needles. For my 1st 30 yesrs (late 1940's to 1970's) years of blood draws 90 % or greater hurt lke hell and left large black and blue marks every time. The ratio of minimum pain and bruising vs. bad painful sticks has gradually improved in my middle age years. In my Senior years I've experienced more of a 80% good sticks / 20 % bad sticks. I haven't experienced seeing the same phebotomiist or nurse for draws since I was a child.

Considering the frequency of turn over of phebotomiists with less total experience in recent times, I feel that without a technical improvement in the sharpness of needles used today I would be experiencing 100% Total Butchering of my arms!!!!!

Congrats. Just make sure any parts of this or any size wild hog is very thoroughly cooked! They commonly carry brucellosis, trichinellosis, salmonella, E. Coli and other diseases/bacteria! I would also take precautions in field dressing and handling of the hog such as wearing protective gloves and eye protection from the hogs body fluids.
I've had Directv satellite TV service since 2008. Other than frequent price increases the service has been great. To my surprise, AT&T ran fiber optic cable in front of my rural home in mid-Nov. It took 9 weeks since the FO cable was buried before home installation was made available. I have had the FO service for a week now. It is super fast and cheaper than my old copper wired Uverse service.

I am waiting a while on deciding to switch my tv service to steaming Direct TV service or a competitor streaming TV service. I want to make sure of the FO service reliability mainly. I have also heard reports that DirectTV no longer sells service via satellite dishes. If you live where internet streaming services are already available, regardless of internet provider company, they won't sell you service via a satellite dish. You can only subscribe to DirectTV Streaming.

I would hate to switch to a streaming TV service, find that I'm not satisfied with it, and then have DirectTV refuse to reconnect me via my old satellite dish. My current DirectTV service automatically switches to streaming when occasional weather issues affect the dish reception.
I fully agree that the tip expectations have become unreasonable. What smarts me even more is the lack of a simple "thank you" by wait staff when it's obvious I'm tipping 20% or more in cash when I tell the waiter to keep the change. Or at a Waffle House using a debit/credit card where they see how much I tipped as I enter the smount or even displayed on their side of the monitor with no simple thank you expressed by them.
Though some heavy users may find that cannabis use increases the likelihood of contributing to E D, others have found it's use can actually increase blood flow as well as reducing anxiety.

It provided a pleasant surprise for this 79 yr. old guy. YMMV!
A sound bar for my large flat screen tv. TV audio speakers were blown. Every other aspect of the tv still functioned exceptionally well. Avoided having to replace the tv. Now have better audio than when the tv was new.

Old fashioned jaw breakers.
Instead if scrolling through a smart phone while on The Throne, I typically average reading 8-10 books a year on my home Throne.

re: Westlake Chemical Layoffs

Many businesses, not just petro/chemical ones, time layoffs at the end of the year to financially handle the impact in it's budget/accounting year. They get to start the new year without the continued labor expenses for the layed off employees against the new years budget.
Thanks for you service, Greenbean. I can't tolerate Flomax and some of it's similar meds. Since I had problems with Flomax and because of my history with kidney stones my urologist wanted to try reducing the size of my prostate to help stones pass more freely in the future, so he prescribed Finasteride which somehow very gradually shrinks the prostate. Though my PSA number.was never that high, my PSA numbers have gradually decreased 60% over the last 2 and a half years!

In addition to treating an enlarged prostate, Finasteride is commonly prescribed to help with male pattern baldness. My barber said I won't have to worry about going bald!

The negative side: You may experience a decreased libido and volume of ejaculate! At age 79, I was already experiencing that before taking Finasteride from natural aging issues, but my libido and volume issue still work enough to satisfy my needs!!! And I no long have had problems with kidney stones!!!!!
Thanks for the feedback. I was hoping to treat my disabled friend to a fun humous type day, but the conditions apparently will not be suitable. I'm thinking of taking him to the WW2 museum next weekend. It won't be a humorous type event, but should be interesting, and we can spend the day together without disability movement impediments.
I emailed them twice before calling 4 times. They must have too many priorities to take care of other than dealing with email and phone calls.

After viewing a short video of last year's event and reading some responses in this forum, I think I will drop trying to treat a handicapped friend to a day at the Ren. Fest. I'm thankful that I didn't tell him in advance that I would like to take him there. I think it might be an easier outing to try and take him to the WW2 Museum in N. O. for an outing.
Thanks for helping me put the event in a time period perspective. Unfortunately I have no horses or wagon.

Do you know if there is any handicapped parking available near the entrsnce?

re: European Christmas Markets

I hate to be the messenger of disappointing news, but Germany just announced that they are canceling all their Christmas Markets this year because of the high cost involved in trying to secure the different sites.
I've tried calling the phone number listed on La. Renaissance Fest website. It never gets answered.

Does anyone know if there is handicapped parking available near the entrance?

Are there any mobility scooters or golf carts available to rent there?

If scooters or golf cart rentals are not available for rent at the festival grounds, then would such conveyances be allowed if you would bring your own?

Are the crowds so thick that it would make it difficult to use such mobility vehicles?
To the best of my knowledge, Buck and Johnny's is in a former automobile dealership building. Cafe Des Amis, in the former old funeral home, is now the home of Tante Marie's restaurant. I've dined at that restaurant back when it was Cafe Des Amis, but have not been since it's Tante Marie's. For anyone not familiar with the term "Tante", it's the Cajun word for "Aunt".
Thanks for all the recommendations. Will probably get to try several of them in time. Went to St. John's Restuarant in St. Martinvile this Thurs. It was really good. Had the best crab cakes I've ever had in "Louisiana" as a 78 yr. old native. Only crab cakes I've had that were better than St. John's Restaurant were Maryland crab cakes in the better restuarants of the Baltimore and Chesapeake Bay area. St. John's dinner rolls with "Stein cane syrup infused butter" are fantastic. I could have eaten a half dozen of those. I will go back again!
As far as I am aware, they're at least not brewing beer for public sales. However, they do roast and sell some really good coffee blends. I have been buying their coffee exclusively for roughly 12-15 years now. Folks that I have given Mystic Monk coffee to for Christmas always enjoy it and some start buying it thereafter.
Which are the better restuarants in or near Breaux Bridge? I did a search under this forum and nothing comes up.

I acquired some typical souvenirs from many places that are no where to be found anymore in my home. However, 3 things from long ago have stayed with me through many decades regardless of where I have lived.: A beautiful mountain stream weathered, somewhat large, rock picked up from a stream while descending Mt. Le Conte in the Smokies Mountains. An ivy plant cutting from Esrnest Hemingway's courtyard in Key West that I have kept alive as a normal house plant for 35 years now. And to my delight, a twisted Hickory walking stick that I used countless times hiking in the Appalachian, Smokies, Rockies, Tetons, Yellowstone, Yosemite, and British Columbia in my younger days. This Moses type staff has now become my preferred walking aid that I use whenever I need to walk some distance on uneven terrain even in So. La. due to some balance issues that now affect me in Senior life! Even with it's weathered look from some of the scratches acquired mountain hiking over the years, I still get folks wanting to see it up close and complementing me about it when I use in public. These are among the types of souvenirs that can become treasures.
