Justice would be her being charged for filing a frivolous lawsuit. And the cop suing her arse for emotional trauma.

Medics are not coming to a scene where some crazy bastard is trying to stab people without the cops.

Not to mention they *did* try to de-escalate the situation through multiple clear warnings

If you haven't figured it out yet....fatiguers are never wrong.

Guy charging at his family and cops with a knife: "It's a mental health call that mom says was handled incorrectly."

Karmelo stabs and kills a fellow teen -- guess who was in the wrong? Not your boy!

When you name your child Messiah the expectations simply can’t be met, should have gone with something a bit more attainable.

I'm thinking Messiah won't get the chance to meet The Messiah. Oh well.

Unfortunate situation if the dude was in fact having a psychotic episode, but the cops can't just let him stab them.

Easy to say if you've never had to deal with someone having a schizo break in your presence. I've experienced first hand this exact scenario, no good for anyone involved.

If he was capable of this then he should have been instituted

Hard questions will have to be answered once UBI and population caps become a thing.

Look, it's not my problem or the cop's problem. I'm sorry that he had issues, but if the cops hadn't killed him he probably would have killed someone innocent.

Suicidal empathy. Too many people have suffered because "crazy" people are allowed to run amok. Requests for "help" are really just offloading of responsibility to "the system."

Dig into it and you start seeing how many of these schizos are just drug addicts.

There needs to be some "bad samaritan" legislation. Raising the bar in terms of burden of proof and such in cases like this. If you attempted to murder, rape, rob someone, and its proven, you (or your estate) should forego rights to sue the police or people you hurt.

Same with go-fund-me. If you were judged guilty of a violent crime, your go-fund-me should be donated to the victim immediately. At the least it should be placed in escrow and only paid to lawyers and such, not cars, houses, etc...

Tough one here. The grandmother didn’t have any other options but to call the police but I’m sure the last thing she wanted was for her grandson to get shot. Bad deal for everyone.

So then what's the solution? If they can't be free or institutionalized what's the alternative?

I agree, I'd even go as far as to say the majority. But there are some people out there, otherwise normal people, that have a fundamental problem with their brain. Not saying that's what happened here because I don't know, but it does happen, and I've been that person making the 911 call. The human brain is fascinating and terrifying at the same time.

Anyone carrying would have done the same if a stranger was running at them with a knife in hand. Family should have done a better job raising the dude
