The Magnificent Mile.

Tons of stuff to doin the unique NEIGHBORHOODS Shop, Restaurants, Live Music, Millennium Park is great. Museums galore, the Lake/Skyline tours. Best Skyline in the Country in the summer

What a bad OP

Navy Pier
Shed Aquarium
Science Museum
Natural History Museum
Miracle Mile
Millennium Park and the bean
That big fountain

Are must see. In addition there are the sports teams, several high quality art museums, a plethora of festivals, many of which are food oriented and spectacular.

And while you're there, there's the food.

How can you count the Space Needle and pike place, which is just a flea market they throw fish at....but not count the sears/Willis tower, Navy pier , Lake and art institute to just name a few

a lot, just stay away from the ghettos (same as anywhere) and it's a fine city.

Of all the bigger cities, Chicago doesn’t have a ton of historical or tourist sights to see.

You must not have looked very hard then.

What a weak troll attempt at NOLA.

As for the OP, I loved visiting Chicago. I thought that it was a great time. I don't get the melt.

I have to respectfully disagree some of the greatest architecture in the country. Crime population is shrinking taxes going up infrastructure is horrible, building anything is a nightmare with permitting codes. Politics nothing like Louisiana but bad. Cubs suck go cardinals. It has a lot of festivals in the summer which are nice as long as you don’t get murdered. Mass trans is nice if you don’t get murdered. Lots of sports to attend if you don’t get murdered . Water if you like boating fishing good hunting just a hop skip away. Shopping, again as long as you don’t get murdered.
It’s not a bad city for it’s size all large cities have issues crime murder etc prob don’t find a homeless population there like LA. You could do worse as a major city. Taxes would keep me out plus murder

Great art and science museums and restaurants love visiting there, don't go in February i.e. in winter is obviously good advice.

That's quite the list of negatives you made.

Just tell your wife you don't want to go to Chicago this year on vacation.

Great food scene and breweries
Clean downtown
Architecture tour
Some of the best live comedy in the country
Navy Pier
Professional sports, including historic Wrigley Field
Lincoln Park Zoo
One of the top marathons in the world

I love Chicago. It's a great city and actually pretty affordable compared to a lot of other cities. Could definitely live there, but it gets too cold for me in the winter.
