ast forward to last week when i pick up the local newspaper. There is a BIG write up from this church saying no gay/lesbians are allowed there, and they will be asked to leave if they come. And give several bible verses saying how God said it is wrong, etc etc.
do they do the same thing for adulterers, those who have had pre-marital sex, those who have devorced, ect.? So no one in the church is free from sin?
I can see if they forbid someone from a leadership role, but the basis of christian faith is that your sins are forgiving after accepting christ

Let me play the part of millennials in responding to this post:
"Religion is so backwards!"
"OMG I can't believe they are taking an outdated position on something!!"

But.....gays shouldn't be allowed to marry, hold church positions, or become members of the church unless they turn from the sin.
Don't get a divorce, or you should be asked to leave the church. sin is a sin right?

Things like this are what gives "reigion" a bad name. Not every church is this way. Ours is not this way

While i do agree that it does say in the Bible it is wrong, and i do not agree with homosexuality
your church would welcome an openly gay couple in your church with open arms?
no judgment? snide remarks and off glances?
I doubt it
im sure people would talk, and not agree with it. but they would absolutely not be denied from comming. And sure as hell wouldnt make a half a page writeup in the paper telling them not to.

right
they just would talk about them behind their backs and wish they would leave instead of just telling them to leave like the other church
I respect the other church more because at least they have their position out in the open and don't fake a smile to people they judge

Didn't read any further, so I apologize if I'm drawing conclusions, but I just have to say this:
Sin is sin in God's eyes - Murder, homosexuality, lying, adultery, it's all equal sin. Source: LINK
So, given these many verses supporting God's view on Sin, shouldn't these churches just close down? "No liars, gays, cheaters, jealous peeps, etc."
Their heads are too in-the-weeds to see the big picture.

Meh, churches are shite now anyway. It's been a steady decline since they let the coloreds in.

no they do not do the same for those, which is why i have a major problem. And yes i totally agree with the second part

That seems to defeat the entire purpose of a church, to be honest. No better than the homosexuals they shun, from a piety standpoint.

The irony of judgmental Christians is amazing to me
Funny how quick they are to recite bible passages convenient to their argument, while over looking the other thousand or so that discredit everything they're saying.

Jesus taught us to hate the sin, love the sinner; judge not lest ye be judged; judgement is reserved for thine father in heaven; let he who is without sin casteth the first stone; ect. Gays should not only be allowed in the church but welcome, so that they may be saved from their sin just as adulterers, drunkards, prostitutes, tax cheats, thiefs, rapists, murderers, lawyers, ect are all allowed to attend churches. The sinners are the ones who NEED it

people are going to talk reguardless. You cant help how a couple people think.. but as a church, who is there to bring people to God, to publically deny someone that right is not right by me

Of course not all are, but just about every Christian who is anti-homosexual recites the same bible versus as validation of their stance. It's fricking gross to hear.

Can you link something or post a pic or the paper so we can conclude this isn't a troll thread?
