how old are you? I didn’t think you were that old but as a 90s kid I’m pretty familiar with every single one of those 2000-2007 songs on that list

I’m old enough now that I don’t recognize a single one of those 2020s songs. I didn’t know they still made rock music, certainly not by those 2020s “artists”

Did they forget Green Day existed? Impossible to not include Green Day in some way. American Idiot has to be in that list

Not to make you feel worse but most of those songs are themselves about 20 years old.
There's a long list of things that make you feel bad about getting older. Not knowing mostly shite music isn't really on that list.

I've basically never heard of 75% of the list. I'm sure I've heard many on the radio, but couldn't tell you what they're called.

Their list is just engagement farming and it's worked out magically for them.

Meh...Estranged is the best GnR song ever, and I will die on that hill

Man, i was going through some crazy teenager stuff when that album (or those albums) came out. Estranged was dark and torturous, and i loved it. I'm not sure i can listen to it now. Locked in the vault.

171. Mdou Moctar - Afrique Victime

There's like six of us in America that know this song, so I'm glad to see it get some recognition. It goes hard. Mdou and band mates can fricking kill it. If you ever get a chance to see them, do it.

What a terrible list. Any list with Phoebe Bridgers or Lucy Dacus (much less Jaz-Z or Geese) should be ignored immediately. My only real shock is they didn't find a way to put Missy Elliot on here, somehow.

Rolling Stone: Hey let's put a list together of the top 200 rock songs of the 21st century, but let's make sure to include some rap, pop, and country artists.

29. “Float On” – Modest Mouse (2004)

Should have been in the top 5

All the banging Drive-By Truckers songs in existence, especially from that album, and Marry Me is the one they pick? And they put the DBTs at 99?

Rolling Stone offices must be one thick cloud of dope smoke.

Some songs are pretty good on the list, but it just proves that musical creativity & talent peaked decades ago & we’re clearly…..devolving. I still can’t believe “mumble rap” is a thing.
